As Halloween draws closer, our desire to watch funny and scary Halloween movies now is in full swing! Whether you’re curled on the couch with friends and family or alone, these top 10 Halloween movies are sure to put you in the Halloween mood!

1. “Night of the Living Dead”

Going back to 1968, “Night of the Living Dead” has become the inspiration for countless modern zombie films.

The movie begins with people desperately seeking shelter after witnessing attacks by strange ghouls. The refugees listen to the radio to find out the solution in stopping the ghouls but will everyone make it out alive? A film once criticized for its gore, “Night of the Living Dead” became a significant classic that one cannot ignore!

2. “The Shining”

A classic horror film recognized by every generation, “The Shining” is a must watch during the Halloween season!

A writer by the name of Jack Torrance becomes the caretaker for the isolated hotel in Colorado, “Overlook Hotel.” He brings along his wife and son, but things start to go haywire when Jack becomes affected by his visions. As he unravels the hotel’s dark secrets, he soon turns into a psycho out to kill his family.

“The Addams Family” is more funny than scary, but we couldn’t help but add this movie to the list! The 1991 comedy is about a man who claims to be Fester. He arrives at the Addams family home but Gomez’s wife begins to suspect that he is a fraud. Furthermore, Gomez begins to realize that a lawyer and his so-called brother want to steal the Addams fortune. “The Addams Family” is the definition of creepy with in-depth characters.

4. “Goosebumps”

Based on the famous young adult books, “Goosebumps” is filled with funny and chilling monsters. A boy named Zach runs across his neighbor Hannah who just happens to be the daughter of R.L. Stine. Soon, everything turns into chaos when Zach accidentally releases the monsters from every Goosebumps book. “Goosebumps” is the perfect movie for teens, especially those who spent their whole childhood reading the series!

5. “A Nightmare on Elm Street”

A classic slasher film that may or may not keep you up at night. “A Nightmare on Elm Street” becomes quite the mystery to solve as a man named Freddy Krueger makes an effort to terrorize people in their dreams resulting in their death. However, will Nancy and Glen solve the case before its too late?

6. “Casper”

A movie that will forever be a Halloween favorite! Casper is a friendly ghost that haunts a mansion in Maine. One day, the specialist, James Harvey, arrives to speak with the spirits. But Casper finds his eyes glued to his pretty daughter, Kat. However, their relationship becomes quite complicated in his transparent state. “Casper” has reigned as a Halloween movie deemed to entertain both children and adults!

“Halloweentown” resonates with “Hocus Pocus” on witches but involves more supernatural beings. Marnie and her kids find out that they come from a family of witches as trouble starts brewing in the town. Marnie not only faces the truth about her family but also finds herself involved in a mission to save the world from evil. The movie may be old, but the spirit is still alive!
