4 Signs It’s Time for a Career Change

We spend the majority of our time in our workplaces. Whether it’s an office lined with hundreds of noisy computers or a sweaty kitchen that serves delicious food, we’re used to seeing our workplace and the people that work alongside us. However, there are times when our workplace can give us a lot of problems. Be it the stress of working at a demanding job or the frustration we experience when working with annoying co-workers, there’s plenty of reasons to actively avoid our workplace as well.

Here are four different signs that tell us that our workplace is slowly ruining us. It’s important not to put our jobs ahead of our lives, so if you see any of these signs, it might be time to take a break from work and go on a relaxing holiday to relieve your stress.

Your employer doesn’t care about your safety

There’s nothing worse than a neglectful employer, and the last thing you want is to end up suffering an accident due to that neglect and calling a personal injury lawyer for cases throughout your workplace. It all starts with simple cases of neglect like refusing to fix a broken step or a dip in the floor. Then it’ll be refusing to replace your terrible office chair with something more comfortable, and then they’ll start to make ludicrous demands such as asking you to work overtime despite you suffering from an illness. Don’t stand for this neglect and put your foot down when your employer seemingly doesn’t care about your safety.

You don’t like your job

If you’ve ever wondered to yourself: “why am I here?”, then chances are you’re probably not suited for your job anymore and you’d be better off finding something new to do. Although it’s important to focus on our careers to try and make a living and provide for our families, it’s also important not to overdo it. You need to find the right balance between enjoying your job and sacrificing your own time and enjoyment to nourish a career.

You hate working with your colleagues

No one said you have to get along with your co-workers, but when they become unbearable and simply annoying to work with, then it’s time to step in and do something about it. However unpleasant they may be, if you love your job and the people you work with, it’s worth fighting for. Make sure you aren’t letting them push you around and focus on trying to notify your employer of any bullying or inappropriate behaviour. You never want unsavoury people to ruin something great, so get rid of them as soon as possible or make them small enough to not be a problem.

You feel pressured at work

If you’re constantly feeling sick at work or taking time off because you can’t handle the stress, then there could be a number of different reasons as to why. But the leading cause of stress in the workplace is simple: you’re under pressure. If you feel like you can’t cut it at work or if you notice your employer looking over your shoulders, then the stress from their expectations can be debilitating and you might need to take a break before it gets to you.
