Summer is coming to and end and college classes are on the horizon. It’s crazy how the warmer months fly by. But just because it’s ending doesn’t mean it’s time to give up on that last couple weeks of fun! Here are 5 things that you must do before your summer vacation waves goodbye.
1. Go hiking and camping
Summer is all about enjoying the great outdoors! Grab that old tent and sleeping bag in your attack, head out to the middle of nowhere with some friends, and set up camp for a night or two. You’ll be away from civilization, away from the Internet, and truly bonding. Don’t forget the marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers!
It’s never too late to help those in need or to volunteer in places around your community. Volunteer to clean up trash out of your local parks and woods or become a friend to the elderly at the local nursing home. It’s your community, so why not help give back to it? Check online or with you local churches for lists of places in need of some free help.
3. Have a garage sale
During the winter, we are all guilty of stocking up on stuff, especially during the holiday season. This just means your attack is dying for a little cleaning. Climb into the attic, venture into the garage, and dive into the basement to find all the old junk you no longer need. You could just throw it away, but “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”. Set up a sale on your lawn, have your friends bring their stuff and make a day of selling your old things. Hey, you could even pool your money at the end and take a trip some place fun!
4. Visit the zoo
Going to the zoo is one of my favorite things to do during the summer. Animals are happy and the sun is shining. This is even fun for adults! You can visit the animals and learn a little bit about wildlife. If you have kids then this is practically made for you. This is entire day’s worth of activities to take part in and going to the zoo isn’t all that expensive either.
5. Go to a drive in movie
This can be difficult one to accomplish because unfortunately so many drive in movie theaters have closed down. It might take a little searching to find one nearby. Or you might find a movie night in your local park. There is something that is just fun about laying on your car or the grass while you watch a movie on a gigantic screen. It brings us back to the life our elders one experienced before multiplex and flat screen tvs. Give it a try!
There you have it ladies; just a few ideas to help end your summer with a bang. Which one are you going to try first?
