8 Healthy Restaurants To Try In Kansas City

In the past eating out and eating healthy was a combination that did not mix. Thankfully, times have changed and we no longer have to order a bland salad with no dressing or forgo dinner with friends. As we have become a more health conscious society, so have our restaurants. These healthy eats in Kansas City will leave you feeling energized and refreshed rather than sluggish!

1. First Watch

First Watch is a breakfast and brunch favorite for many, myself included. Why? The food is consistently delicious and fresh no matter what location. I have explored my way around the menu and always leave feeling happy and energized while dreaming about what I will get next time. The “Healthier Side” on the menu offers a large selection of breakfast/brunch options from avocado toast to omelets, superfood bowls, and oatmeal. My favorite meal is the “Healthy Turkey” egg white omelet with a Kale Tonic from the juice bar. If you’re ever in need of a cheat meal but don’t want to feel disgusting, the rest of First Watch’s menu is full of high quality meals made with fresh ingredients.

2. The Mixx  

The Mixx is a salad lover’s paradise. A paradise where customers can customize their own salad with over 50 ingredients or choose a gourmet salad from the menu. Salads are never boring here. For those of you who are tired of getting slapped in the face with lettuce, you can ask for your salad to be chopped. It’s a life-changing experience, trust me. The Mixx also has sandwiches, wraps, sautéed pastas, and soups. It is the perfect place to check out if you’re looking for a healthy, delicious, and fast meal.

3. t.Loft

Hellooo, beautiful. Good luck finding something at the t.Loft that’s NOT Instagram-able. Seriously. Their mission is to provide fuel that not only tastes amazing but makes you feel amazing too. The clean eats, fresh juices, tea, and gluten free options are made with the freshest ingredients designed to nourish and power your body so that you have the energy to take on the world (or that spin class later). The clean eats options range from lentil bowls, scramble bowls, salads, fruit & grain bowls, to protein balls. There are even healthy options for kids too! The beverage options are endless: pressed juices, smoothies, protein shakes, tea’s, and coffee.

4. Protein House

Protein House is a place where people can go and trust that what they are putting into their bodies is fresh, unprocessed, and made with non-GMO ingredients. Their menu is specifically crafted to promote both physical and mental wellness. Replenish with one of their many, delicious protein shakes after your yoga class or workout. Craving chocolate? Satisfy that sweet tooth without the guilt with their protein pancakes or protein bites. They also have acai bowls, plant-based protein bowls, salads, burgers, wraps, coffee, frappuccinos, and fresh-pressed juice!

5. Cafe Gratitude

Kansas City, if you haven’t tried this vegan and vegetarian cafe, make lunch plans asap. Originating from California, Cafe Gratitude put down roots on Southwest Boulevard back in 2012. It’s impossible not to feel good in this environment especially, with dishes called I Am Gorgeous, I Am Whole and I am Terrific. Everything is made with 100% plant based ingredients. Basically, this place is the epitome of eating the rainbow. A very, very tasty rainbow.

6. Blue Bird Bistro 

This funky little space is known for their organic, all-natural, and local cuisine. Take a look at their menu and I guarantee you will start drooling. They offer breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. Once or twice a month they do something called a Farmers’ table where they serve five courses of locally grown and raised food.

7. canihaveabite 

No diet is left behind here at canihaveabite. The menu has dishes for every lifestyle from paleo, vegan, vegetarian, to all around clean-eating! The coolest part about this restaurant is they can tell you exactly where their ingredients come from. I am a huge fan of their belief that food is the best medicine. Their food definitely reflects this thought!

8. Cheesecake Factory

You’re probably wondering how a place with the word cheesecake in the name made it on this healthy restaurant list but the Cheesecake Factory has an impressive collection of low-calorie options under the “Skinnylicious” section of their menu. There are over 50 fresh and healthy dishes all under 590 calories. You know what this means? You can go ahead an order that cheesecake you’ve been eying without the guilt of overindulging.
