Tyra Banks is back with a new cycle of ANTM! However she isn’t casting wannabe from around the country or potentials she has found in the mall. This time around, Banks has changed gears and decided to cast college students. Yes, college hopefuls are the new faces of becoming the next woman to win a contracts with Smashbox Cosmetics, Nine West, a feature in Nylon Magazine and a $100,000 cash prize. They will also receive a modeling contract with LA/NY models and become the face of America’s Next Top Model Dream Come True perfume.
For Cycle 19, Banks has returned with 13 fresh faces that attend schools from across the country. These young, vivacious women all have dreams of becoming the next Gisele or Alessandra and are ready to embark on a journey they’ll never forget. They will have the chance to compete in weekly competitions to earn photo of the week and see who gets eliminated.
As part of the revamping of the show, the judging panel has also been changed. Jay Alexander, Andre Leon Talley and Nigel Barker will no longer be Tyra’s right-hand men to help her search for the next face of modeling. This cycle she will be joined by PR maven, Kelly Cutrone, and model Rob Evans. Cutrone is returning for a second season while Evans will be judging his first. She has also added Johnny Wujek as the new creative consultant for photo shoots (replacing Jay Manuel). Also added as a new element, fans were be able to vote each week on their favorite girl based on their photo shoot. With the new social media aspect, Bryanboy, a famous fashion blogger, will mentor the girls on the power of social media and explain comments by viewers. The voting, which began on May 24, shows who the viewers favorite was and factors into their scoring with the panel. But, the competition doesn’t end there! Viewer voting was also able to bring an eliminated contestant back into the competition. So it should be very interesting to see how this season will play out.
