Drink plenty of water

If you have dull, dry skin, dehydration could be the root cause. If you’re dehydrated, your body is unable to transport essential nutrients to your skin. You may also find that your skin looks flushed when you haven’t taken enough fluids on board. Aim for at least two litres of water per day and try to moderate your intake of fizzy and caffeinated drinks.

Seek help

If you have skin problems, there’s often a solution out there. Mild issues can often be resolved with self-help techniques. More severe problems may be treated with ointments, lotions or tablets. If you’re worried about your skin, or it has started to affect your confidence, seek advice. Arrange to see your doctor so that they can have a good look at your skin and make a diagnosis. In some cases, your family doctor will be able to treat you. If you have more severe concerns, you may be referred to a dermatologist. Skin conditions often clear up, but it’s best to get them checked out. If you leave them, they may get worse.
