My Trip to the BBQ & Brew Festival at Worlds of Fun (Ends May 14)

For as long as I can remember, my dad and I have always taken a traditional yearly trip to Worlds of Fun.  Going to Worlds of Fun is one of the best memories I have growing up and I love that it is still something I enjoy doing as an adult.  This weekend we went and check out the BBQ and Brew Festival.  If you’re in the Kansas City area I highly recommend you give Worlds of Fun a visit while the event is happening.

When you get your ticket to the BBQ and Brew Festival you’ll get two craft beer samples and small plate food pairing for use at six different stations in Americana.  You’ll get 12 sample drinks and 6 different foods to taste.

I was vey impressed with the entire event!  We left with feeling full with some of the best tasting BBQ…so what exactly did they service at each station?

CINDER BLOCK BREWERY (North Kansas City)

Food: Smoked BBQ chicken, baked beans and cole slaw inside a savory waffle cone

Beers: Northtown Native, Cider Block, Block IPA, Pavers Porter

COOP ALE WORKS (Oklahoma City, OK)

Food: Smoked ribs and savory cornbread

Beers: Spare Rib Pale Ale, DNR, F5 IPA, Seasonal

KC BIER CO (Kansas City, MO)

Food: Smoked jalapeño sausages with mustard, original, hot and vinegar sauces

Beers: Dunkel, Helles, Hefewizen

NEBRASKA BREWING COMPANY (Papillion, NE)

Food: Smoked turkey tenderloin sliders with roasted pepper gastrique, crispy fried onions and signature BBQ sauce

Beers: EOS Hefeweizen, Cardinal Pale, Ale, Brunette Nut Brown, IPA

PINEY RIVER BREWING COMPANY (Bucyrus, MO)

Food: Freshly grilled and skewered corn on the cob with BBQ space butter

Beers: Missouri Mule IPA, Black, Walnut Wheat, Float Trip Ale, Seasonal

TALLGRASS BREWING CO. (Manhattan, KS)

Food: BBQ doughnuts with signature BBQ spice caramel glaze

Beers: Buffalo Sweat, 8-Bit Pale Ale, Raspberry Jam, Pub Ale

And of course, no Kansas City father daughter event involving BBQ is complete without some Kansas City ribs. 😉

We had so much fun checking out the festival, riding rides and enjoying the park! I highly suggest you join Worlds of Fun for their 3rd annual BBQ and Brew Festival, featuring craft beers from around the region and tasty barbeque!
