Lipstick or lip gloss is a beauty product that most women have in their purses right now because bold, soft, and healthy lips are beautiful. However, a lot of these products can get rather expensive, especially if you wear it on a continuous basis like me. I wear lip gloss all day long because my lips feel dry without it. Why not make your own lip balm for the price of one, and create your own flavors? Here is a DIY lip balm that is really cheap and of course, like always, it’s really easy to make.
All you need is:
- 1 cup of Vaseline (petroleum jelly)
- 1 package of Kool-Aid drink crystals
- 1-2 packets of sweetener (optional)
- lip balm containers
Add one cup of Vaseline in a microwave safe bowl.
Heat in the microwave for 30 second increments, and stir between each heating. LaQuita recommends wearing gloves as the bowl gets very hot. After about 3-4 minutes of heat and stirring, the Vaseline will turn into liquid.
Pour in Kool-Aid packet. The more you put in the stronger the color will be. If you want the lip balm to be very light, then do not put very much in. You can also use sweetener because using only Kool-Aid can make the lip balm very bitter.
Stir the Kool-Aid and sweetener until they are completely dissolved.
If you see that the Vaseline is starting to cool off and get hard, then you can put it back in the microwave for 30 minutes. Do NOT DO THIS STEP IF IT IS STILL LIQUIDY.
Pour the liquid into your lip balm containers, and leave to cool off and harden.
Repeat this whole process if you want to make different flavors.
