Have you ever had one of those moments where you have a jacket or a pair of shorts and you think, “wow this would really look better with some studs on it?” Well, I have. Pyramid studs are a great way to add a little edge to those classic pieces or make an old favorite new again. Here are three easy steps for adding some shiny studs to your garments.
First, in order to start studding you need to get your hands on some studs. You can usually purchase them in bulk, but if you have gone through a punk rock stage like I did, you can remove the studs from your old belts. This is a great way to recycle and save some cash.
Second, you need to get a pair of pliers to loosen the studs. I usually remove several at a time so that I don’t have to stop once I have started applying them.
Finally, you can choose where you want to apply the studs. Poke the spikes on the back through the material and bend them back so that the stud is secure. Make sure to bend the spikes back completely, so that they are not poking you while you sport your updated gear. If you want to add a little more edge to your piece you can fray some edges too!
