When it comes to our health and staying healthy, money is a big factor. You may not realize it but believe it or not, it’s true. Think about it, eating healthy wholesome foods almost always costs twice as much as eating junk. Joining the gym doesn’t come cheap either. Medical care is incredibly expensive, or at least it can be if you don’t have adequate insurance in place.

The fact is that a lack of funds can compromise your health. It’s sad that money, or a lack of it, can have such a big impact on how we take care of ourselves. Surely, we all deserve to be able to keep ourselves families healthy – it is the 21st-century after all!

The good news is that although a lack of money can make leading a healthy lifestyle harder, it doesn’t necessarily have to. Believe it or not, there are some money savings hacks that can make leading a healthy lifestyle more doable when on a budget.

There’s a common misconception that eating healthily has to be expensive. The truth is that although clean eating can be pricey, that doesn’t mean that it has to be. If you’re a smart shopper and a budget-friendly cook, you can easily cut costs.

The key to success is meal planning and ensuring that all leftovers are used up and not wasted. For example, say you buy a chicken to roast on a Sunday. You can use the leftover chicken to make a salad or sandwiches the next day, then the last of the chicken, including the bones, can be used to make a healthy chicken and vegetable soup – there are plenty of great recipes online that you could use.

It’s also a good idea to bulk meals out with vegetables, tinned tomatoes, rice, pasta, or pearl barley, making them go that little bit further. Aim to make all of your meals from scratch, instead of buying readymade sauces, as by cooking from scratch, you can knock around 50 percent off of each meal – amazing, huh?

Medical checkups and medication:

Medical checkups and medication can be incredibly expensive, meaning that a lot of us put off seeing a doctor unless it’s absolutely necessary. However, this isn’t a healthy way to live, as going for regular medical checkups is important, as that’s how any problems can be caught and dealt with early.

The best thing to do to cut medical costs is take out insurance, as that way you know that you’re covered. Believe it or not, not all insurance policies come with high costs, it’s just a case of finding the right one. Money makes the world go around; there’s no doubt about that. However, a lack of funds doesn’t have to mean that you compromise your health, it’s just a case of getting creative and thinking outside the box.
