Between working out and the crazy amount of heat we’ve been having this summer, it’s hard not to sweat a lot. Most girls hate to sweat and many things it’s gross and disgusting, but sweat isn’t a bad thing. Your body actually needs to sweat. Plus, sweating can be very good for you.
Sweating can be very cleansing for your body. It also is your body’s main way of regulating it’s temperature, which is extremely important. If you are running or working out or just outside in the hot sun all day, your body can easily become overheated. It can be bad for your body to stay at a high temperature for a long period of time, so your body releases sweat to try to bring your temperature back down to normal. That’s why when you have a fever they say the best thing to do is to “sweat it out!”
While sweating may be good for the cleansing of your body and for your body’s temperature, sweating can cause acne. When sweat lingers on your body for too long and it dries, it can become a food source for bacteria, according to the Bellevue Acne Clinic. This is how it becomes acne.
But, that doesn’t mean you should try to avoid exercising and going out in the heat! The important thing to remember when you’re sweating a lot is to make sure you take a warm shower after the activity you do. If you wash your face and body before the sweat dries, it can actually be beneficial for your skin! Your pores will be open and your skin can become smoother and softer.
If you sweat a lot, don’t sweat it! Sweating is a natural thing that everyone does. Your body needs to sweat, so if you’re sweating it just means your body is doing it’s job.
