How To Fall In Love With Your Body

Throughout your life, you’re likely to find that you will fall in and out of love with your body over the years. Although, we’re definitely more inclined to find ourselves in the latter camp over the former. Because for some reason, we just can’t seem to be kind to our bodies. Until now. It’s time to turn things around and learn how to fall in love with our figures for good.

Our bodies are beautiful. They keep us going, they get us through, and they amazingly bring life into the world. So what’s not to love? Unfortunately, it’s not always that easy to think in a positive light like that. Whether it’s the addition of too many mirrors to the home or the rise of social media and the ‘selfie’ generation, we’re always too critical on ourselves. But now is the time to stop focusing on your flaws and falling in love with what you have.

It might not be easy, and for some, it may even be painful, but by using a combination of health, fitness, and your own attitude to your body, you can make it happen. So let’s leave all that negativity behind and fall head over in heels in love with our figures again.

Health

First of all, let’s take a look at how your health can help you love your body again. This may sound strange to you at first, but it won’t before the end of this section. Because when you put more into your health, you’re putting more into your body, which can help you to love it more too.

Eat Well

Sometimes, the reason that you can feel uncomfortable with your body is that you’re not looking after it. Although you may first feel as if you dislike the way it looks, sometimes it’s more about how it feels. And when you eat rubbish, you feel rubbish. But if you’re able to nourish your body with the right foods, like greens and proteins, fats and water, you should start to feel a lot better in the body you have.

Drink More

Next, you need to be thinking about drinking more water. Your body runs at its best when it’s properly hydrated, so you should think about how you can utilize this to your advantage. By increasing your intake of water, you should find that you have more energy and feel a little more positive. You may also shed a few extra pounds in the process too, which always makes you feel good.

Sleep Better

But you should also be thinking about how you can enjoy more sleep. If you’re tired and irritable, you’re going to be more inclined to look in that mirror and be tough on yourself. When you lack in sleep, you can be stressed and negative. But when you get into a good sleeping pattern, you should find that you’re able to feel a lot better in yourself, which can help you to feel comfortable in your figure.

Take It Easy

And finally, you need to be able to let yourself have a break. Your lifestyle choices really matter here. Smoking and drinking can both contribute to negative feelings, both in your body and your attitude. But by focusing on rest and making healthier lifestyle choices, you should find yourself feeling a lot better about the body you have.

Fitness

But, as you’d expect, fitness is also going to play a huge part in helping you here. You may not realize it, but you can ensure that you work with your body to feel happier in it, just by working it a little harder.

Just Move

Before you object and state that you’re not the biggest fitness fan, don’t think about it in that way. You need to think about the benefits of exercise to your mind as well as your body – rather than it being hard work. When you just start trying to move a bit more, you will feel better. Even if you just go out for a walk to get some fresh air, you will start to feel so much better in yourself.

Run Faster

If you find that moving a bit more is making a difference to both your disposition and how you feel in your body, why not up that a little bit more? Running can be incredible for your fitness, your figure, and your mind. You will also find that running improves your confidence too. Not only can you clear your mind, but you always feel good after a run, and your figure will start to feel a lot firmer too.

Find Your Feet

But sometimes, you just can’t get into running, or you aren’t able to get out on the roads. So, you’re going to want to find a type of exercise that works for you. And this can take time. You need to choose a style of exercise that you can fall in love with. Then, you will find that it’s something you can commit to, and can work on getting into a shape that you’re comfortable with.

Work With Goals

Finally, you’re also going to want to set yourself some fitness goals. Whether it’s to run twice a week or get yourself to a set weight – just set them. If you’re unhappy with elements of your figure, change them. But be realistic, so that you’re finally able to feel comfortable in your skin.

Attitude

And finally, your attitude is going to contribute vastly to this transition. If you want to be able to really feel good in your body, you have to change the way you think about it. This can often be the hardest part of all.

Positivity

At first, you may struggle with this, but being positive really is the best way to change how you feel about yourself. Combined with working on your health and fitness so that you physically feel good, you need to work on your mental positivity. Body positivity can be tough. Our brains are programmed to be negative these days, but if you can crack that bad habit, you’ll do yourself a world of good.

Forgetting Perfection

One of the main reasons that our minds make us negative towards our bodies is because we’re always chasing the idea of perfection. But we need to forget about that because perfection doesn’t really exist. Instead, you need to take action to get what you want. If you’re seriously unhappy in your skin, hire a personal trainer or look into breast augmentation or whatever it is that can help you to change that. Because without making a change and forgetting perfection, you won’t feel good.

Avoiding Comparisons

At the same time, just like you chase perfection, it’s only natural that you compare yourself to others. But if you want to be happy, this has to stop. Body comparison will always lead to negative feelings. It can often distort the way you see yourself too, which will only make you feel worse. So stop the comparisons, stop the negativity.

Acceptance

Above all else, you need to be able to accept your body for what it is. We’re all born with different shapes. Some are tall and thin, some are short and curvy, and then we have everything else in between. But you’re born with what you’ve got, so embrace it. Don’t aim long for something you haven’t got. Instead, love your figure, work with it, and make it something you’re proud of. It is yours after all.
