If you’re glued to your desk for the major part of the day it may be difficult to find time to get fit. Incorporating some level of physical activity into your daily routine doesn’t have to be time consuming. Just try a few of these:
- Park your car further than usual. Just taking a few extra steps from your car to your destination can help your mind and body overcome those initial anxieties when engaging in physical activity.
- Take the stairs whenever possible. Is there an elevator next to your desk or office? Ignore it. Sacrifice convenience and take the stairs instead to get a few minutes of exercise each day.
- Stand up and stretch. Don’t just vegetate at your desk. It’s important to stand, and even walk a few steps, every so often throughout the day in order to get your blood circulating. You might even want to take a trip to the water cooler—that way you can stretch and hydrate at the same time!
- Take a short, brisk walk at lunchtime. Your lunch break doesn’t have to be completely devoted to stuffing your face. Take a few minutes (5 or 10) to get some exercise and some fresh air.
Your body is meant to move so step on it!
