It seems like a silly question to ask, but have you ever really stopped to think why your parents would not let you leave the table before you finished your veggies? You may have heard it before, but we are here to remind you why you should still be piling up veggies on your plate. Honestly, the health benefits of vegetables really can’t be beat.
Keeps your heart Healthy
Veggies are linked to lowering cholesterol in your heart, reducing blood pressure, and a number of other cardiovascular benefits. Foods like spinach, kidney beans, and other veggies help regulate blood pressure. Don’t forget the fiber! Broccli and other fiber fortified vegetables decrease the cholesterol being pumped to your heart.
Abundant in Antioxidants
Veggies are teeming with antioxidants that keep your immune system sturdy and defend free radicals, which lead to cancer and other hazards. Stock up on corn, onions, kale, and eggplant to get a high amount of antioxidants.
Creates Healthier Hair and Nails
Yeah yeah yeah. We know that vegetables have vitamins and minerals, but why is that such a great thing? Well, if you care about your body, hair, and nails, then you care about getting vitamins and minerals. Vitamins that are found in various vegetables are natural sources for stronger hair, better skin, and an overall healthier appearance. Veggies loaded with Vitamin A, like red peppers and carrots, are attributed to having healthier skin. Vitamin C also strengthen teeth. Vitamins and Minerals aren’t just a natural beauty product, but they also help heal cuts and wounds, fight infections, and reduce the risk of birth defects for pregnant women.
Controls the Scales
We women are always up for another way to trim the number on the scales, and eating vegetables is an easy way to do so. As established earlier, vegetables are packed with water and fiber that fill you up faster than empty-calorie snacks. Remember, ladies: quality over quantity!
Women from the ages of 19-30 need 2 and 1/2 cups of colorful vegetables a day, according to the USDA. So, ladies, eat your greens… and yellows, reds, and oranges. Well, eat them all!
