The ‘Cat-eye’ make up has been around for decades, but still remains as fashionable as ever. This classic make up move is a favorite of celebrities such as Emma Stone, Rhianna and Angelina Jolie. A quick and easy cat-eye can enhance a look all together by making it look edgier and more seductive. Here are some tips on perfecting this trick.
1. The basic line
Liquid eyeliner can be tricky, especially if you aren’t used to handling it. To be able to achieve a look like this, chances are you are going to have to practice, but don’t be discouraged! You can always wash it off and start again.
It is easier to start with a pencil eyeliner. First, on a clean eye, lightly draw a thin line which you will follow with the liquid liner later on.
2. The Eye Shadow
Most of the time, the cat-eye look has a bare lid along with it, or a natural shade complimenting the dark liner. Take your favorite natural, light shade and dust the tops of your lids with it. Don’t worry about going over the previously drawn line, as long as it’s still visible.
3. The Liquid Line
If liquid liner is still too daunting, you can also use a thick, dark stick eyeliner, but make sure it is sharpened to create the trademark, defining line at the edge of your eye.
Start off tracing the first line with the liquid liner. It is okay to mess up, or to have to go over the line again afterwards, as long as you have a straight, thick line at the end. With a good pencil liner, line your bottom lid as well as the inside corner of your eye to make your eyes pop.
Now for the “tail” of the liner, which makes the cat eye look like a cat eye! This can be a bit tricky, and it is completely up to you how defined you want the tail to be: Long? Short? Dark and dramatic? Small and girly? Play around with it until you have a tail you like.
