These days, more and more of us have to travel for work. Technology has made the world a much smaller place, and many people have to take trips away from home in the course of our employment. And while your bosses will reimburse your expenses, you’ve still got to fork out for everything in the first place. If that’s likely to cause you cash flow problems, then don’t despair. We’ve got a few handy tips to help you balance your budget.
Only Take What You Really Need
It’s all too easy to take more stuff with you than you need. Beat excess baggage charges by keeping your luggage to a minimum. Even better, if you want to save time and money, make sure you keep your bags so small you can carry it on. Check with your employers if they’ve booked you a flight with hand luggage only. Some companies reserve lower priced business class flights by specifying there will be no luggage to go into the hold. You can buy smart bags and cases that are guaranteed to be allowed by most airlines to be allowed to go on board with you. Do check with the individual operator before you fly!
Don’t pay the ridiculous prices charged by the airport car park. You can keep your purse in much better health by using an unofficial site slightly further away. Shuttle buses will get you to the airport; it doesn’t take that much longer. Just make sure you factor it into your travel itinerary and arrive in plenty of time. It’s much better to be waiting in the terminal for half an hour than hoping you’ll take the last call as you run across the airport. We’ve all been there! Don’t make travelling any more stressful than it has to be; you’ve already got enough to do.
The Most Important Meal of Your Day
Food can be expensive when you are traveling, so make the most of what you’ve got. If your accommodation offers breakfast, make sure you eat your fill. Everybody knows that breakfast is meant to the most important meal of the day. Giving your body the essential energy it needs for the busy day ahead, you can save a lot by making sure you eat well when you get up. You’ll be less likely to snack during the morning. If you’re attending meetings with coffee and biscuits, it’s easy to rack up unwanted calories without even thinking about it. It’s easy to pack on the pounds when you are working away. So, save cash and your waistline!
Keep your receipts
If you are savvy and smart, then you can keep your costs closer to your cash flow with ease. Don’t make the mistake of buying everything at the airport, make sure you have what you need before you go. Make a list in advance and you’ll find that being prepared will save you a fortune. And lastly, don’t forget to keep your receipts safe. A handy tip is to take a picture of each one on your phone. If you lose them, you have a backup and can still claim back your cash!
