Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar Celebrates the Longest Day to Drink Rosé

Last night, I joined Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar in celebrating the longest day of the year with a special rosé dinner. Jax chefs created a six course seafood menu, perfectly paired with select rosés from around the globe. The dinner celebrated the  Longest Day to Drink Rosé.

“The solstice is long. Rosé is refreshing. We celebrate the obvious intelligence of those two things sharing the same day by adding in 6 perfectly paired courses that will help the wines shine, long after the sun has finally gone down,” says Adam Reed, executive manager of Jax Fish House.

I celebrated the Longest Day to Drink Rosé at their Kansas City location.  We enjoyed a 6 course meal paired with wine at each course.

First course: Green Tomato Carpaccio & Hamachi Crudo –  Lemon verbena, cured trout roe, basil seed

Pairing: 2016 Txispaz IGO Txalino -100% Hondarrabi Beltza, Pais Vasco, Spain

Second course: Poached Bass Lemon tzatziki, puffed rice, Thai basil

Pairing: 2015 Domaine Triennes Cinsault, GSM blend. Provence France

Third course: Dungeness Crab Asparagus, fried ginger, curry oil, long noodles

Pairing: 2016 Domaine Rimbert “Petit Cochon Bronze” Cinsault Mouvedre, Syrah blend. Languedoc- Roussillon, France

Fourth course: Charred Onion & Fennel Crusted Wild Salmon sweet garlic cream, preserved lemon vinaigrette, tabbouleh herbs

Pairing: 2015 Friederich Becker Petit Rosé – Pinot blend. Pfalz, Germany

Fifth Course: Seared Hokkaido Scallops Scallop ravolini, rhubarb, lemongrass, watercress

Pairing: 2015 Blackbird “Arriviste” Rosé Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon. Napa, CA
