Recipe: Low Calorie Fried Pickles

For a great snack without worrying about the calorie content, try these “fried” pickles that aren’t actually fried! Get the scoop on these low calorie friend pickles.

Baked “Fried” Pickles

You’ll need:
-1 jar pickle slices
-2 eggs
-1/3 cup flour
-1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
-1 tsp hot sauce
-1 tsp garlic powder
-1 tsp Cajun seasoning
-1 tsp pepper
-1.5 cups bread crumbs

1. Turn oven broiler on high. Spray a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
2. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and flour. Add in the Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, garlic powder, Cajun seasoning, and pepper.
3. Put the bread crumbs in a shallow bowl. Dunk each pickle slice into the egg mixture, then drag it through the bread crumbs.
4. Place the coated pickles on the baking sheet. Broil for about 3 minutes on each side.
5. Enjoy!

For the dipping sauce, try low-fat ranch. Or, re-create this cilantro garlic ranch sauce:

Cilantro Garlic Ranch
You’ll need:
-1 1/2 cups buttermilk
-1 cup mayo
-handful of cilantro
-2 tbsp garlic powder
-1 tbsp Italian seasoning
-salt
-pepper
-4 cloves garlic
-1/8 of an onion (more or less..personal preference)
1. In a bowl, mix the Italian seasoning, buttermilk and mayo together.
2. In a food processor, mix the cilantro, garlic, and onions until there are no chunks.
3. Add about half of the buttermilk/mayo mixture to your food processor.
4. Blend again.  Then pour it back into the rest of your buttermilk/mayo mixture. Give it a good stir.
5. Add salt and pepper to taste.
6. Refrigerate.
