If you want to be a little more bold with your personal style this year, you may want to start experimenting with new accessories and looks. One of the looks which is simple to try out is adding statement jewellery into your outfits. If you want to create a stunning outfit combination with little effort, a piece of statement jewellery can be exactly what you need. But be aware before you slap on the massive bangle that there are a few rules to follow…

Keep it simple

Just because you want to make a statement with your jewelry doesn’t mean that you have to choose the most garish and bright piece you can physically find. Take Brilliant Earth for example, they have a range of diamond and other pieces which are all stunning, simple and can make a statement. The whole idea of statement jewelry is putting the focus onto these pieces and allowing them to speak for themselves. A small diamond ring can make a bigger impression than a knuckle duster!

Choose earrings carefully

Earrings are one of the easiest ways you can make a fashion statement but be aware that you can also get it very wrong if you aren’t careful. Earrings aren’t a universally suited item and you will need to make sure you check the size and shape of your ears relative to the earrings you plan on wearing. This will allow you to choose the best type of earring to suit you. For example, if you have small ears and a long neck, large hoops could be a brilliant way to make a statement. However if your ears are larger, an ear cuff could be your go to style.

A necklace to match your neck

As we know, not everyone is created equally, and you will notice that some people have longer and thinner necks than others. When you are choosing a necklace to make a fashion statement you need to think about whether it will suit you neck or not. You will also need to make sure your clothes match the type of necklace you wear. A long simple necklace would look brilliant over a form fitting turtleneck. However, it will not work with big collars and v neck items. You need to change your style to a more short and choker like design.

Rings can be the best type of accessory to change up your look with minimal effort because they come in all shapes, sizes, styles and colors. The best way to style your hands is with a simple manicure and then a few rings that either clash or a tonne of rings which are the same color and style. You may have seen the trend of wearing rings in different positions on your fingers, and this will work only if you wear the same color throughout. If you want a few bold pieces you need to space the out or wear them on different hands to allow them to shine in their own right.
