There’s a reason that “Celebrities Without Makeup” is a popular headline. We’re so used to seeing them glammed up from head to toe in what some of us call “airbrushing,” but really, they (or their makeup artist) are working with a blank slate with the same tools like the rest of us. So how do we get that red carpet look working with what we rolled out of bed with? We have pondered this age-old lady dilemma for too long. So, Sarahscoop has examined popular makeup trends this season amongst Hollywood starlettes, and we’re here to tell you how to mystify with your magnificent makeup. We have the scoop on the makeup celebrities wear.
Less really is more
You know what common motif we found when we looked through an endless amount of pictures? Natural looks. This usually makes the average woman’s eyes grow to be the size of saucers, but everyone has a feature that’s worth accentuating. We also want to note that sure, this doesn’t mean that the ladies of Hollywood are stepping out on the red carpet without a drop of makeup (think back to the first line of this article), nor does it mean they’re not making a statement, but it does mean that they’re not caking anything on. So, know your limits, and let’s keep this in mind as we look at some of our examples.
Lea Michele steals the show with her beautiful deep skin! To grab your eye, she sticks with a neutral lip, champagne and baby pink eyeshadows, statement lashes, and an illuminating foundation.
Kate Hudson still grabs your eye without creating a bare-to-nothing look. She relies on a strategic, shimmery eyeshadow on her lid to make her green eyes stand, in conjunction with a black eyeliner to add extra umph. For extra wow-factor power, she uses a primer to make everything work smoothly.
Smoky Eyes and Soft Lips
Keeping with in the theme of less is more, Emily Blunt opted for a soft lip and a soft smoky eye to match her outfit. The girl oozes sultry with a brown kohl eye pencil and a shimmery brown shade on the eyelid. To make her cheekbones pop, she used a lighter shimmer eyeshadow along the cheekbone to accent. To finish it off, she used a volumizing mascara and a light pink lipstick.
While we’re talking about coordinating, Taylor Swift showed that you can play with colors and still keep it simple. She applied a purple shade to her lid, and framed it with a shimmery dust in the corners of her eye. For eyeliner, she used an onyx liner.
Soft eyes and Bold Lips
Take note, ladies! Lip colors and a natural look is possible!
Isla Fischler pairs her raspberry lip with a light eyeshadow and mascara.
Jessica Alba dares to be different with her matte orange lip and lightly shaded eyes.
Hayden Panettiere serenaded us with her subtle look! She brought the focus to her eyes, which were swept with dabbles of gray. To complete her look, she dusted a light pink blush on her cheek bones, and balanced it with a soft pink lip.
Don’t let time, money, or a spot on the A-list keep you from getting a glamorous look. We can all achieve this less-is-more look with the right tools!
