This past July 28th was the 30th Annual Miss Teen USA pageant. On that beautiful night at the Grand Ballroom at the Atlantis Paradise Island in Nassau, Bahamas, one girl’s life was changed forever. 18 year old Logan West from Connecticut won the title of Miss Teen USA. Aside from impressing the judges enough to be crowned with such an esteemed honor, Logan is also the first title winner to hale from Connecticut. Danielle Doty who was Miss Teen USA 2011, carried on tradition by crowning Logan with the magnificent crown. As little girls we have all watched pageants and imagined what it would be like on the stage, under those lights and wearing that crown. On that night Logan’s dream came true.
Logan won the judges over with her strong anti-bullying campaign. Like many teens Logan was a victim of bullying in her early years. After her experiences with bullying Logan decided that she wanted to do something to change the stage of bullying in her community. She started a anti-bullying program called Bully Proof. Through this initiative she went on to be named Connecticut’s Outstanding Teen in 2010. Her anti-bullying campaign had such an effect that it helped Governor Dannel Malloy revamp the state’s anti-bullying statute. With all of her work in her own state, her title can allow her to spread her message nationwide. Logan accredits pageants to helping her find herself after she was lost in the grief and sorrow that surrounds bullying. With that crown on her head and that sash on her body there is no telling how high Logan’s star can climb.
