The name’s Bond, James Bond, and oh do we love it.
No matter when, where, or why you drop James Bond’s name, women swoon and men geek out a little. This is one reason why we love the sly-as-a-fox agent 007.
When English writer Ian Fleming first wrote James Bond into twelve novels and two short-story collections in 1953, the dashing drama of the British Secret Service agent leapt off of the pages and into the hearts of readers, so much so that six other writers wrote the journey of James Bond until Fleming’s death in 1964. Besides on paper, Mr. Bond has been adapted into comic strips and books, television series, radio shows, and video games.
But let’s get to the good stuff: James Bond in the blockbuster form. It all started back in 1962, when Sean Connery first showed us the brooding stare of 007 in Dr. No. Along with Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig have taken care of the bad guys in 22 different installments of the Bond Series. The impact of the films is still present today; of course, your brothers and your dad know who James Bond is, they probably wanted to be him when they grew up, but even the girliest girly girl knows him. Why? Well, what woman doesn’t know about the smoothest man in history? His debonaire charm has stood the test of time, capturing the attention of every lady since 1963
If James Bond were a real man walking amongst us, we would recommend you wouldn’t fall for his smooth-talking, womanizing charm that makes girls go ga-ga. But, since he isn’t, we can watch and dream we were a Bond girl. Sure, he may be a bit cocky and emotionally unavailable, but he’s British, he can put the bad guys in their rightful place, he’s British, and he’s smokin’ hot. Oh, and he’s British.
