The Scoop on Bachelor Nation’s Jen Saviano

Jen Saviano is literally the girl of your dreams! She is the perfect girl who is just like us–easy to get along with and LOVES wine & pizza! I mean, don’t we all?! Many will recognize Jen from Ben’s season of The Bachelor and also Season 3 of Bachelor in Paradise. I got the chance to catch up with her amidst her crazy fun life. Jen is a globe-trotter, family-loving, Floridian who is a fellow blogger (misslifestyler.com)! Check out my Q&A with Jen below to learn all things on Jen along with some Bachelor insight!

Where did you grow up?

Floridian here, born and raised! Currently living in Fort Lauderdale.

What was your childhood like?

I had a pretty normal childhood! My very first friends when I was younger are still my best friends today, and my family has always been very loving and supportive. My dad is one of 9 siblings, so I have a very large extended family with over 50 first & second cousins. The majority live out in California, so trips out there were always something I looked forward to.

What were you involved in growing up?

I played tennis competitively for 15 years. It consumed a lot of my social life, (which probably kept me out of trouble) however I still managed to strike a balance! I always enjoyed traveling- I would save up my money during the year and head to Europe almost every summer. I definitely still have the travel bug, that never left me 🙂

What is your favorite childhood memory?

One of my most fond and vivid memories from childhood is going to the Wimbledon Tennis Championships in London with my dad. My first Wimbledon experience I was pretty young– I just remember really tall, good looking “older” athletes and enjoying the hell out of their signature dish: strawberries and cream (men and sweets, some things never change). My dad’s in the tennis industry, so fortunately he brought be around to some of the Grand Slams… however Wimbledon was, and is still, my absolute favorite. My mom is originally from London and I have family over there, so that place will always hold a special place in my heart!

What did you do after high school?

After high school I continued playing tennis competitively. I got a full ride to a gorgeous little private school in St. Augustine, Fl: Flagler College. I got my degree in Psychology and Spanish.

Let’s talk a little bit about The Bachelor, who or what inspired you to go on the show?

My friend, Kelly Lane, nominated me as a joke! I was shocked when I got the call back- but as an avid watcher of the show, I was so intrigued. I mainly wanted to see how far I’d make it in the process, and when I got chosen I felt like it was fate! When you’re chosen out of tens of thousands of applicants, how do you turn that down!? Being a very private, introverted person, the whole thing terrified me to say that least, but I like to push myself out of my comfort zone. I wasn’t going to let the fear of it all stop me. Looking back, I’m so glad I went through with it!

What would you say was the hardest part of the show for you?

Getting past my anxiety. I’ve always struggled with mild anxiety, and this show is literally the perfect recipe for a panic attack at any moment. This is one of the main reasons it was so hard for me to open up.

I see that you are still very close to many of the Bachelor Nation alum. What would you say was the best friendship the show gave you?

As cheesy as it sounds (true Bachelor style), the friendships made have been the best part of the whole experience. I’m close to a lot of the girls, and friendly with them all… but I’d have to say I’m closest with Lauren Barr. We clicked instantly on night one of The Bachelor and have been attached at the hip since. She’ll be in my life forever!

What’s your favorite memory from the show?

There was one night in particular, I believe the second week of filming when we were still in the mansion. Ben was off on a one-on-one date, and we all decided to just get hammered. HA. They turned the cameras off, ordered pizza for us (as per request) and we played games, laughed, got to know each other… a true adult sleepover. It’s a pretty stressful environment, so whenever we got to relax and let loose, we always had the best time.

Favorite funny moment from the show?

I don’t know who, why or when this started… and it’s so stupid I’m embarrassed to even type this out. BUT we have to entertain ourselves somehow right? We had a little potato that we found during The Bachelor filming… and as we were traveling, the potato would end up in someone else’s suitcase, pillow, makeup bag, etc. We all found it hilarious, I think we were certified cray at this point. After my journey ended in Mexico and I headed back to Florida… I was unpacking my bag, and lo and behold, the potato was at the bottom of it. I just burst out laughing. This was definitely Becca’s doing!

How did you know you were ready to find love again on Bachelor in Paradise?

I wasn’t heartbroken with Ben, unfortunately I never allowed myself to feel anything for him… so it was pretty easy to bounce back. I knew Bachelor in Paradise was way more my scene, so I thought I’d give it a go.

Once the shows were over, what were you most excited to get back to?

Dating in the real world! The thought of being able to go on a date wherever you want, for as long as you want, with no interruptions/cameras was so appealing to me!

What advice would you give to yourself now before going on The Bachelor?

If I were to go on either of the shows again, I’d just try to be as open and vulnerable as possible, and not worry too much about saying or doing the right thing. Some girls are natural in front of cameras, some aren’t… but the more relaxed you are, the more your personality can come through. It’s unfortunate America didn’t get to see more of the real me, so if I could do it again I’d try to be a lot less guarded. Oh and HD setting powder for the face… crucial for a flattering interview (I learned the hard way)!

What is life like for you now? Are there any fun projects that you’re currently working on?

Life is great! I’m always pushing myself towards that big, bright future… and just enjoying the process. I do have a few things up my sleeve that pertain to my blog, misslifestyler.com. Y’all will just have to stay tuned 🙂

I’ve seen from your Instagram that you’ve been traveling non-stop, what’s your favorite place you’ve ever traveled to?

Ahh this question is too hard! I studied abroad in Barcelona for a semester in college, so I always took advantage of the close proximity of nearby countries/islands. One of those trips included a weekend in Ibiza with my Norwegian friend/classmate. We rented a couple four-wheelers and rode around the coast of the island exploring hidden beaches. Unbelievable trip!

How do you stay in shape?

Balance! I never deprive myself, but I know when I need to step it up. A lot of core strengthening, interval training and a clean, healthy diet!

What is your go-to everyday beauty product?

Tinted moisturizer. I have fairly dry skin, so I always need a little extra topical hydration. Current favorite is IT Cosmetics CC cream. OH and a (wet) beauty blender! I don’t know how I ever applied foundation without it!

What is your staple fashion item for any look?

I love a good leather jacket. It’s one of those instant, effortless chic items that can pull any outfit together.

What is your guilty pleasure?

WINE, tequila, pizza.

What is the best piece of advice you have received?

Great question! My dad, the wisest person I know, has always emphasized the important of a humble confidence and knowing your worth. “Know that no one is above you, and you aren’t above anyone… but you walk into every room with your head high like you own it”

What’s a quote you live by everyday?

“Never settle for a life that is less than the one you’re capable of living”

Finally, how can fans keep up with you?

I love chatting with my followers on all my social platforms! Especially my blog, misslifestyler.com… and Insta & snapchat: jensav11
