Summer Necessities: Sunscreen, Sunglasses and Big Hats

photo 2 (13)It’s that time of year again…time to protect ourselves from the harmful rays of the glorious sunshine.  Check out these summer necessities we love here at Sarah Scoop.  If you are like me, I am always applying sunscreen when out and about paying special attention to my face.  We all want to stay young looking and keep those age spots and wrinkles from appearing.  Besides wearing makeup that contains SPF, take those extra precautions to keep yourself safe!

Let’s talk sunscreen. Try to use at least an SPF of 30 but if you are like me, I go for one with an SPF of 85, especially while lounging at the lake or poolside.  Finding a sunscreen that spritzes on is always nice especially for your beautiful face.  I recently started using Christen Michel Glow spritz for my face but also love to use Neutrogena Ultra Sheer sunblock.  It goes on smooth and call me crazy, but I love the smell of it.  It’s a reminder that I am out and about, enjoying the weather and it’s like I can just smell the water waiting for me to jump 1 (14)

Next up, sunglasses!  We all have them and my motto, “the bigger the better”! I ventured out of the box this year and bought some fun shades to wear besides my normal “new” pair every summer.  I opted for larger Betsey Johnson cat eye shades, which are super cute, and Lauren Miller aviators.  Don’t get me wrong, I love my Coach and Matte Black Ray-bans, but sometimes I need to switch it up!  It’s good to provide protection for those sparkling eyes of yours!

Don’t forget the big hat!  Besides being super fashionable, it’s a great way to protect not only your face, but your scalp from being sunburned or even your neck.  Wide brimmed summer hats are all the rage plus you can dress them with a cute hair piece or sash.

Most importantly, don’t forget to enjoy the summer!

My small town life growing up has definitely shaped who I am today and as I grow older, I am starting to appreciate that more and more. When I am not writing or at my day job, I am most likely baking, running, spending time at the local farmers market, or hitting up a good happy hour! I am currently in Nursing school and will graduate in 2017, I love helping people!! I am obsessed with taking pictures that aren’t conventional and sharing them with the world. My family and friends mean the world to me and I cherish each second I spend with them. I currently have my own blog titled “Dirt Roads ~ High Heels”
