The Best First Tweets From Your Favorite Celebrities

To celebrate its eighth birthday, Twitter launched a website that allowed users to view their first tweet. I’m sure it only took a few days for most users to get the hang of how tweets work, but some people joined Twitter before ever trying to figure out the social media platform.

Exhibit A: My first tweet

Looking back at it now, I realize I didn’t have to tell the Twitterverse that I needed help figuring out how to tweet when I demonstrated it so well with an incomplete sentence and no subject. Thankfully I learned the ropes and am fully capable of tweeting correctly. My tweets actually make sense now, but this first tweet will always be a gem.

Celebrities are guilty of awkward first tweets like mine. Screenwriter and author Kelly Oxford brings the laughs with her fear of P. Diddy, but tweeted like I did and used her Twitter name as the subject. Her tweet is a lot funnier than mine (as they all are) so she still comes out of this a winner.

Actor Neil Patrick Harris almost nailed his first tweet until he learned the 140-character limit on Twitter the hard way. Don’t worry, NPH. 140 characters just aren’t enough sometimes.

Pop princess Katy Perry showed her excitement about joining the Twitter world. After thanking her fans, she gave them a witty remark to start off her Twitter fame. She’s sweet and funny and shows it in less than 140 characters? It’s no wonder she has more than 51 million followers.

She also faced some fake accounts and wanted to make sure her fans only got the real deal when it came to her Twitter page. Luckily she kept tweeting despite only initially creating it to ward off fake accounts and now tweets out her hilarious takes on sleepwalking and fangirling over Beyonce.
