10 Best Hulu Originals Worth Binge-Watching
Break out the popcorn (with extra butter) and your funky onesies! It’s Hulu time. Here’s the scoop on trending Hulu Originals to marathon watch this week!
Little Fires Everywhere
Little Fires Everywhere (2020), a drama series starring Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington, is definitely worth the watch. This show is based on Celeste Ng’s 2017 bestseller, Little Fires Everywhere. This show follows the picture-perfect Richardson family, and a puzzling mother and daughter who turn the family’s lives upside down. The weight of secrets, the fierce tug of motherhood, and the nature of identity are explored throughout the show. This show will leave your questioning if it’s dangerous to believe that following the rules will avoid danger.
Currently there is only one season. Rumor has it, there may or may not be a second season. If not, there is potential for a spin-off series.
The Handmaid’s Tale
This 2017 science-fiction drama will have you sitting on the edge of you seat the whole time. Offered (Elisabeth Moss) is forced into sexual servitude in a new totalitarian society called Gilead. She struggles to survive this brutal new way-of-life. There are three seasons with a four season arriving later than anticipated. But don’t worry the story will continue.
Letterkenny
Letterkenny is must-watch comedy-sitcom. In the small town of Letterkenny, there are three groups: the Hicks, the Skids, and the Hockey Players. Those that live there belong to one of the three groups. The Hicks, the Skids, and the Hockey Players are always at each other’s necks over trivial matters. In the end, someone always gets their rear-end handed to them.
You can stream all eight seasons now. I am one for a good tv show with a small town vibe. So I’ll definitely be watching this one too.
Future Man
This comedic time travel show starring Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games) as “Josh Futturman” is another must see Hulu Original. Josh Futturman, a janitor by day and gamer by night receives a visit from a mysterious group of people. This mysterious group recruits Futturman to travel through time with them in order to prevent humanity’s extinction.
I don’t know about you all, but if a random group of people from another time showed up at my front door, asking me to time travel in order to save the human race — I’m going! You can travel through all three seasons on Hulu right now!
Castle Rock
Misery has arrived, and is looking for company in this psychological-horror series. Lizzy Caplan (Mean Girls, Now You See Me 2) portrays young Annie Wilkes (from Stephen King’s Misery). The setting of Castle Rock is inspired my many Stephen King works, like Cujo, The Dark Half, IT, and Needful Things. Henry Denver, a death-row attorney, is lured back to his hometown of Castle Rock, Maine by an anonymous phone call. Upon his returns, he is treated with a sinister situation. A mostly more man kept locked on a cage underneath the Shawshank Prison is in need of Deaver’s help.
If you’re a Stephen King fan, then you’ll want to marathon-watch this show NOW! There are currently two season available for streaming, so get on it!
Harlots
This British drama follows Margaret Wells, a brothel owner and mother-of-two as she struggles to reconcile these two roles seamlessly. Her competition — Lydia Quigley, a rival madam, attempts to blitz Margaret’s business. However, Margaret must fight back, no matter the cost. Do you think it’s worth Margaret losing her family — or even her life — to save her brothel? Watch the three seasons on Hulu now, and let me know what you think.
The Act
OMG! Joey King is one of my favorite actresses! She was amazing in The Act. This crime drama is based on the true story of the real Gypsy Blanchard. Gypsy struggles to escape her toxic, overprotective mother’s grasp. But, things are going to get messy on her pursuit for independence as secrets are unfolded to reveal truths. If you’re a fan of Joey King, then you need to watch this show (if you haven’t already).
The Mindy Project
Mindy Kaling takes the lead in this comedic sitcom. Dr. Mindy Lahirir, a skilled OB/GYN, tries to navigate being a well-rounded woman and professional. Her ultimate goal: to be the perfect woman, with the perfect man, and perfect romantic comedy ending. Ha ha! Nobody is perfect, Sweetheart. And that’s what makes each of us special. You will find laughter and inspiration throughout these six seasons on Hulu.
Veronica Mars
Veronica Mars is a smart and fearless private investigator. She is dedicated to solving the toughest mysterious throughout the seaside town of Neptune. The rich and powerful are the one’s who make the rues this wealthy community. They all try to keep their dirty little secrets hidden, but they better watch out. Veronica is hot on the trail. You can watch the secrets and lies unfold in this crime drama’s first season.
Shrill
Aidy Bryant (Saturday Night Live) stars as Annie in this comedic sitcom. Annie strives to change her life (but not her body…because she’s beautiful already). She attempts to juggle the start of her career with bad boyfriends, a sick parent, and a perfectionist boss. I get major women empowerment vibes from this show.
You can watch Annie own her life like a boss in these two season. Don’t worry, season three is on the way! Reminder, Ladies: You can have your cake and eat it too.
