You can’t go wrong with pizza.  Let’s be honest, even when a slice is bad it’s still good.  You can enjoy them piping hot or at room temperature. I’ve even eaten leftovers straight from the fridge and it was all delicious.  With so many delicious pizza options, we know there has to be some pretty stiff competition.  Well we’ve narrowed down our favorite spots in Kansas City to grab a slice and these places are not just good pizza.  They’re amazing pizzas that sometimes make me cry when I eat them because they’re just that good…

Minsky’s

Minsky’s boasts 17 locations throughout the KC metro area and Lawrence. Pick  from their original or honey wheat hand rolled dough and the thickness of your crust for a pizza that’s just as unique as you are.  Top your pizza with generous portions of meat, fresh veggies, aromatic herbs, and locally sourced mozzarella for a savory treat your whole family will love!  What else is exciting at Minsky’s?  They’ve recently added a gluten-free menu so everyone regardless of diet restrictions can enjoy.

Pizzeria Locale

Looking for a taste of Italy?  Stop into Pizzeria Locale for amazingly authentic slices.  Owners Lachlan Machinnon-Patterson and Bobby Stucky believe in using only simple, fresh ingredients for their irresistible pizza pies.  Need an excuse to treat yourself to this delicious meal that tastes like it was shipped straight from southern Italy?  Stop into Chipotle right next door and save your receipt.  If you bring your Chipotle receipt in on the following Monday, they’ll give you a free slice!

Waldo Pizza

Build your own pizza from the crust to the toppings.  Whether you prefer original hand tossed, St. Louis style thin crust or honey wheat, Waldo’s Pizza has what you’re looking for. After you’ve selected your dough and crust type, start piling your pie with sauces, cheeses, meats, fish, and veggies for a pizza that is exactly the way you want it!  Pies start at 10” and go up to 16”.

Artego Pizza

I’ve talked about this pizzeria before and I will probably never stop talking about it because it is just legitimately that good!  Their crust is made with a special blend of oil and herbs and baked to blistery perfection.  Their menu offers a diverse selection of pizzas that are piled high with veggies, meats, and other toppings.  On warmer nights enjoy your pizza and a beer out on their patio and enjoy some art while you eat!

Papa Keno’s

Their door reads “slice as big as your face” and they are not exaggerating.  Your one slice is the size of about 2 large slices or maybe four small slices (I’m not complaining though.)  Need a midnight snack?  Stop by Papa Keno’s, their pizza is seasoned to perfection and their restaurants are open late.  You won’t be able to eat it inside, but order through the to-go window and you’ll have a slice of heaven when you get home.

d’Bronx

In the mood for some New York style pizza?  Stop by d’Bronx for a floppy, savory slice that makes New York proud, probably because the concept was conceived in The Bronx.  The original owner’s father owned a deli in NYC and when she married and moved to Kansas City, the couple brought along all of her father’s recipes.  The original owners went on to sell their restaurant to Don Foringer who is just as dedicated to maintaining its authentic deli style and family recipes as his predecessors.

Pizzabella

Pizzabella is serving up some of the finest wood-fired pizza in Kansas City. Stop into one of their locations to enjoy the ambiance and a glass of wine. We recommend making a reservation, especially on a Friday or Saturday night as the wait can get pretty long, but for good reason.  Pizzabella’s crust just soaks in the flavors of the smoky wood and leaves guests wowed by their wonderful artisanal pizzas.

This locally owned shop is called the Art of Pizza, because their slices are  handcrafted works of art.  Their pizza is prepared fresh for every order and offers diners a delicious meal and a comfortable and unique atmosphere.  While you might not be able to get these guys to deliver a slice to your door, you can enjoy your pizza in their beautiful garden patio during the warmer months.
