10 Best Places to Visit in Pittsburgh
Since I was born, I’ve lived in Pittsburgh all my life. Our small but beautiful city is known for our sandwiches, the way we say “Yinz”, and of course, our sport teams, too! There’s so many fun things to do and see when you come to visit Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In this article, I will give you the scoop on some fun touristy activities to do when you decide to take a trip to the ‘burgh!
1. Point State Park
Point State Park is located right in downtown Pittsburgh. It’s on the corner of the city and has a huge water fountain, where it shows where the three rivers meet. Every year, no matter what season, there are always huge festivals that happen at the Point. In addition to the wonderful view, many people go down to bike and play games on the huge grass lawn that takes to you to the fountain.

2. Mount Washington
Mount Washington is a neighborhood in Pittsburgh located downtown, but instead, it’s on a huge hill that the Point faces. At Mount Washington, you will get the best view of the whole entire city. It features a landscape view with two inclines that can take you up and down the hill. This place is popular in the summertime with people on their boats in the water, festivals, and much more. It also holds many famous restaurants that have amazing views of the city, too. This is a must when you take a trip to Pittsburgh!

3. Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens
Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Garden is located in Schenley Park in the middle of the Oakland neighborhood in Downtown Pittsburgh. When you visit, they have many exhibits of world-class gardens. It’s indoor and outdoor, which is perfect for any season! It’s a historic landmark in Pittsburgh that has provided education about flowers for many public schools within the area. After visiting Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Garden, you will have an obsession with flowers for weeks.

4. Carnegie Science Center
If you’re from Pittsburgh, you’ll remember taking tons of field trips in grade school to the Carnegie Science Center. It holds many interactive exhibits for all ages and will leave you feeling like a scientist! There are 4 floors of exhibits and a super neat gift shop. My favorite exhibit is the H20h exhibit. There, you can learn all about the rivers located in Pittsburgh and how science plays a huge factor in the water! If you have young children, you must take them to this place. As we speak, they are holding a mummies exhibit where you can actually see real mummies!

5. Kennywood Park
Who doesn’t love amusement parks? I’ve been going here ever since I was a little girl, and I will still leave feeling like a little kid again. At Kennywood Park, you’ll have access to many neat rollercoasters such as the Steel Phantom, The Racers, and many more! In addition to all the rollercoasters, Kennywood offers their famous Potato Patch, where you can get the most delicious potato batch fries you will ever eat!

6. Settlers Cabin Park
If you’re looking for a place that has pretty scenery, this is the place to go. At Settlers Cabin Park, you can choose from walking on various trails, waterfalls, and much more. This place is also great if you’d like to take some food and have a picnic! This park is not far from Downtown Pittsburgh as well, which means you don’t need to drive hours to get to the park.

7. The Andy Warhol Museum
At the Andy Warhol Museum, you will get the opportunity to see rare pieces from the famous artist Andy Warhol. This museum is solely dedicated to this artist, which is the first of it’s kind throughout North America. When you visit, you will have access to over 7 floors filled with paintings and sculptures. If you’re big into art, you will love this place!

8. Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium
For you animal lovers, this is the place you need to go when visiting Pittsburgh! At the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium, you’ll be able to see over 4,000 wild animals in different habitats. The neat thing about this zoo is all the endangered and threatened species they have. If you decide to take a trip to the zoo, don’t forget to grab some Dippin’ Dots on your way in! Throughout the zoo, there are Dippin’ Dots stands that hold a variety of flavors. It’s a nice treat for when you’re walking around in the heat!

9. South Side
A small little area located near Downtown Pittsburgh is where South Side resides. It’s located along the Monongahela River that looks across Downtown Pittsburgh. The South Side is home to bars, restaurants, and small shops. No matter what day it is, there is always something going on in this area. What I like about this area are how the houses are lined up in rows. It gives me that old time feeling!

10. Fort Pitt Museum
Last but not least, the Fort Pitt Museum is a great place to go when you’re driving through the city. This museum, which is both indoor and outdoor, is right by Point State Park. Inside this museum, it shows exhibits about the French and Indian War. If you’re into history, you will love this place! It’s also educational for children too. In the upstairs part of the museum, they have interactive exhibits and mazes you can stop by to look at.
