10 Relatable Peter Parker Quotes
Spider-Man is a fan-favorite superhero in the MCU. He inspires kids and adults alike. Peter Parker also has many hilarious lines throughout the MCU. Here are the ten most relatable quotes Peter Parker uttered with and without a mask.
1. “I just wanted to be like you.”
Peter in Spider-Man Homecoming is desperate to please his mentor, Tony Stark. Many of us can relate to wanting to be like our idols. He learns from Tony that he needs to be his own person and to be a hero without the suit.
2. “I can’t go to Germany. I got homework.”
While Tony rolls his eyes at Peter’s excuse in Captain America: Civil War, we’ve all been in his predicament. In college or high school, homework has a way of keeping us from doing the things we want. Except, what we want to do doesn’t usually involve getting into fights with members of the Avengers.
3. “I’m sick of Mr. Stark treating me like a kid.”
We’ve all gotten overlooked because of our age sometime in our lives. Older generations brush over the younger generations due to “their lack of experience.” However, no matter what age you are, you deserve the right to be heard, and you can make a difference. While we agree that Peter shouldn’t be chasing after arm’s dealers because he is a high-schooler, we understand his desire to be respected.
4. “I just want to go on a trip with my friends.”
In Spider-Man: Far From Home, Peter doesn’t want to be Spider-Man while he’s on his field trip to Europe. We sympathize with his wish to take a break and travel, especially because we’re stuck in our homes due to COVID-19. We hope to go on trips with our friends once it’s safe enough. But hopefully, we won’t run into Elementals on our vacations as Peter did.
5. “I’m sorry I can’t remember anybody’s names!”
During Avengers: Infinity War, many superheroes who never met before were thrown into battle together. We feel Peter’s pain when we meet a bunch of new people. It’s hard to remember everyone’s names. We smiled when Peter apologized for not being able to remember the Guardian’s names during the attack of Thanos.
6. “I just really miss him. Everywhere I go, I see his face.”
After Avengers: Endgame, we see the impact that Iron Man’s death has on the world. We also see Peter Parker’s grief over someone he not only looked up to but loved. While grieving, people find it hard to see reminders of those they’ve lost. For Peter, this is especially difficult, as Tony’s face is everywhere. We relate to Peter’s sadness about Iron Man’s absence in the MCU. We love him, 3000.
7. “Cap–Captain. Big fan, I’m Spider-Man.”
Even though Peter is on the opposite side of the war as Cap, he can’t help but be starstruck when he sees him. We, too, act awkward when we see a celebrity we love in person. I am also a big fan of Captain America, so I wouldn’t be able to resist telling him so either.
8. “She was really nice and bought me a churro.”
My love for churros started when I first visited Disneyland as a kid. I can’t help but relate to Peter’s love for them. We’re glad the old lady he helped gave him a churro for his service to Queens.
9. “Let me just say, if aliens wind up implanting eggs in my chest or something and I eat one of you, I’m sorry.” “I don’t want another single pop culture reference out of you for the rest of the trip.”
It’s not so much Peter’s exact line, but Tony’s response to it that’s relatable. Being a movie and TV fanatic, many of my friends roll their eyes or laugh whenever I reference something from pop culture. If I were in Peter’s situation, I would be trying to make sense of it by referencing films too.
10. “You can’t be a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man if there’s no neighborhood…Okay, that didn’t really make sense. But you get what I’m trying to say.”
Only Peter Parker would say a cool superhero line and then proceed to comment on how it didn’t make sense. We can relate to stumbling with our words. Also, cinematic sounding phrases don’t usually work as well in real life.
Even as a superhero in a Marvel movie, Peter Parker talks like any other person, and we love him for it. What are your favorite Peter Parker quotes?
