3 Health Tips For People With A Desk Job

Does your job involve sitting at a computer all day long? If so, it can be difficult to stay fit and healthy. After all, virtually no movement for eight hours or more per day is never good for anybody. This is especially the case if you start to develop a bad posture or if you rely on junk food to get your energy levels up once the inevitable afternoon lull descends. So, with that being said, let’s take a look at some of the steps you should take to stay healthy while you sit at a computer all day, every day.

Pack plenty of healthy snacks – While you are sitting at your desk all day, it can be very tempting to go to the vending machine when you are bored or once you start to feel your productivity levels dwindle. A chocolate bar or an energy drink may give you an initial boost, but you will quickly spike after that. Plus, both options are packed with sugar and aren’t great for your health. Instead, take healthy snacks with you to work so that you can turn to those instead.

Dried fruit and seeds are a great option. You can also cut up some fruit and take it in a plastic box. Or, why not cut up some carrots and cucumber and take in a healthy dip? You can easily make your own Tzatziki to accompany your vegetables. If you are tired of drinking water, you can give your water an upgrade by cutting up some fresh fruit and leaving it in the water overnight. Or, why not take in some green tea bags or peppermint tea bags? You can turn to this instead of a sugary energy drink or creamy coffee.

Don’t ignore pain – If you are in pain, don’t ignore it and simply hope it will go away. Don’t carry on adopting these habits that aren’t helping your body. Instead, you need to see an experienced professional, such as ssprehab.com.au. Spine pain is something a lot of people suffer from when they are crouched over their computer screen all day long. Don’t run the risk of the pain becoming worse and developing into something more serious. See a medical professional as soon as possible.

Stretch it out – Just because you are sat at a desk all day does not mean you cannot move at all. Why not do a few leg stretches under your desk? This is a discreet way of getting a bit more movement into your day. After all, no one can see what you are doing under your desk anyway. There are numerous leg stretches you can do from your chair. For example, you can raise one leg and move your ankle in a circular motion several times. You should then repeat this exercise with the other leg. You can then move to lifting your toes, and after this you should raise and lower the heel of each foot.
