3 Ways to Stay Fit and Healthy at Work

A major portion of our day, even our week is spent at work. Including the commute, most workers spend around 40 to 60 hours every week at work! While many businesses are shifting to become part-time or full-time remote, it still raises some questions about health. Obesity is still an epidemic within the US and one of the many challenges that adults are facing is how to balance getting fit and healthy with a career. The idea alone sounds a little tough if you think about it.

 You spend most of your week at work, sometimes up to 60 hours. Then you need to try to ensure you get enough sleep per night, you tend to your personal life such as the family, and once that’s finished how can you have time or energy to focus on health? For many workers, it’s already a struggle to get enough sleep per night due to their tight work schedules.  So how can it even be managed? How can one split time and energy focusing on the job, their life, relationships, and health?

Thankfully, there are some helpful tips and strategies that could possibly work for you. These will help you lose weight, get fit, and be the healthy person that you want to become all while focusing on putting time and effort into your job. Whether you’re wanting to make a complete lifestyle change or you’re wanting to just feel a little healthier, these strategies have the potential to help you out!

Look into meal prepping

While it may depend on the type of work that you do, many workers will find something easy and convenient to snack on. This includes going straight to the vending machine or moving frozen microwaveable meals for their meals. This at times even extends to how they eat outside of work. It’s completely understandable to want to grab the most easiest and convenient thing to have as your meal. The thought of having to take time to cook and clean up may even be exhausting depending on the type of work that you do.  While it is a lot of work, this is honestly the more healthy and cheap way to go about getting nutrients each day.

Most convenient meals including those “healthy” frozen meals tend to lack nutrients. This in turn also causes you to lose your energy and feel more tired. There are plenty of ways to ensure that you can do meal prepping while still having time and energy to do other things outside of work. You can either look into a healthy meal-prepping service or even go on YouTube to get ideas on how you can make healthy meal-prepped foods. Meals such as overnight oats, salads, and buddha bowls don’t take long to make at all.  

Many meal preppers will take one day, such as Sunday to get around to making their whole meals for the week. These meals are usually quick to make such as rice, chicken, veggies, soup, but honestly, you can make it as easy as you’d like for yourself.  Just know that the first step to feeling better is eating better. Whether you’re wanting abs, better sleep, or more energy for your work, it all starts in the kitchen.

Focus on the little things

Even the smallest of changes can make a massive difference. Is your back hurting or do you have aching muscles throughout your day? That could be due to your posture. Are you waking up in a bad mood each day? This could be due to the type of alarm you use to wake up with.  It’s crazy to think but looking into all of these little things and making changes can really have a huge impact on you and how you’re doing to feel.

Focus more on wellness

Of course, if you’re wanting to get healthy, you’ll need to focus on ways to bring in more activity in your day. This includes walking, stretching, and in general, just finding ways to burn those calories. However, you should keep in mind that wellness is far more than just working out.  It’s about your wellbeing in its entirety.
