5 Steps to Vlogging Success

Vlogging, or video blogging to give it its full title, is the next step in blogging. More and more seasoned bloggers are choosing to record their thoughts on camera and share them with the world on platforms like the hugely successful Youtube.

If you are a blogger and you would like to make the jump to vlogging, or even if you’re brand new to both, there are some things you will need to do to make your new endeavor a success. Here are the most vital:

Create a Youtube Channel

Youtube is the biggest and best vlogging platform, so if you want to get your face seen by as many people as possible, it is the place to be seen. This means that the first thing you will need to do is learn how to create a youtube channel and make money. You can then set up your own channel and start posting your video creations.

Invest in the Right Equipment

No matter how interesting your views, animations, stories, etc. might be, no one is going to listen to them or watch your channel if the audio is poor and the video blurry. With that being said, you are going to have to bite the bullet and invest in a quality camcorder, tripod, backlighting, and external microphone as a minimum. These four items should be enough to ensure that you are seen and heard loud and clear without any obstacles. As your channel grows and gets more popular, you might want to think about investing in higher-end products to enhance your production levels.

Research

Having your videos look and sound great isn’t enough to draw people in, not by a long shot. The most important thing you can do to ensure success in the blogging or vlogging world is to have interesting and informative content; this means that you will need to do your research. Yes, some people pick up huge followings by simply ranting about the world or making jokes.  If you have the skills to pull this off, that’s fine, but if you’re trying to produce content for a specific subject, for example making a true crime vlog, you need to ensure you have all the facts, or you’re likely to turn people off. Know your stuff if you want to succeed!

Be Charismatic

There’s nothing worse than putting on a Youtube video only to find that the host has the most boring monotone voice and presents their script in the driest possible way. Don’t let this be you! Be animated, enthusiastic, and upbeat, and don’t be afraid to inject some fun and personality into your vlogs, no matter what you’re talking about. You’ll come across more likeable, and your audience is less likely to get bored after a few seconds.

Stay the Course

Most video blogs do not take off quickly. They build an audience slowly but surely, providing they’re any good, which means that you need to have confidence in your product and you need to have staying power. Don’t give up because you don’t have many views; keep producing compelling content, and you’ll find an audience soon enough.
