Air Fried Pickles with Sriracha Ranch Sauce
Had a recent craving for your favorite restaurant fried pickles? Crave no longer with this at-home version! Delicious, crunchy pickles in minutes!
I am a lover of pickles, so I usually will order them whenever I go out to a restaurant. However, I have been cooking at home a lot more this year and decided to figure out how to make my favorite appetizer for myself! The Panko bread crumbs are really the key ingredient here. They create an amazing crunch despite not conventionally frying. The best part about this recipe is that there is very little oil involved, making this a healthier version of the original.
The Sriracha Ranch dipping sauce is inspired by the southwest style dipping sauce that is often served with fried pickles. While I used full-fat mayonnaise and whole milk, this sauce can be made with calories in mind. Simply substitute those two ingredients for light mayonnaise and your milk of choice! I also think this sauce would be delicious with the addition of prepared horseradish to add a unique kick.
Air Fried Pickles & Sriracha Ranch Ingredients:
- Air fryer
- ~1 cup dill pickle chips, spears if you prefer.
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4 cup Panko bread crumbs
- 1 packet of Ranch seasoning. You will use 1 tsp. for the breading and the remainder for the dipping sauce.
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp. each salt and pepper
- 2 tbsp. sriracha
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. cayenne
Instructions:
- First, Prepare pickle chips by drying thoroughly.
- Then, beat 1 egg, adding in a few teaspoons of pickle juice to loosen
- Next, combine 1/4 cup flour, 1/4 cup panko, 1 tsp. ranch seasoning, 1 tsp. of both salt & pepper, and 1 tsp. of both cayenne and garlic powder.
- After that, bread the pickles by dredging each chip into the flour mixture, then into the egg, and then back into the flour.
- Finally, air fry at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Halfway through flip the pickles and lightly spray them with a cooking oil of your choice. I would not recommend using a non-spray oil for this.
For the Sriracha Ranch dipping sauce:
- For this step, simply mix the remainder of ranch seasoning, 1/4 cup milk, 1 cup mayo, and 2 tbsp. of sriracha until well combined.
