Here is the scoop on the season 17 episode 3 recap: Katie Thurston’s season of The Bachelorette!
Last Week on The Bachelorette
Episode 2 was a doozy. Tre put on a puppet show, Aaron and Cody mud wrestled, Katie and Greg kissed on a bucket, and Karl created some drama! The episode ends before the rose ceremony, so the only guy who goes home is Cody!
Also, during the episode Katie made a tweet proving that she has no regrets about sending Cody home. Heading into this weeks’ episode, fans are eager to learn who is going to get a rose.
Katie Thurston’s Rose Ceremony
For The Bachelorette season 17 episode 3 recap, we pick up during the second cocktail party, right in the middle of the action. All of the guys are upset with Karl for telling Katie that some guys are not there for the right reasons. After the contestants question him, he cannot keep his story straight.
Katie says that she no longer has the energy to spend individual time with anyone so she will just see everyone at the rose ceremony. All of the guys who have not spent time with her tonight are angry with Karl, and very nervous.
Meanwhile, Greg takes this opportunity to check on Katie when she is alone, and she appreciates his concern.
Katie begins the rose ceremony reminding the guys, “I am here to find my husband.”
She gives a rose to David, Hunter, Connor C., and Mike P. When Mike accepts his rose, he speaks up on behalf of the group and tells Katie that they all feel Karl should go home. She asks, “Do you all feel the same way?” and they respond with gentle nods.
Katie then steps away and speaks to hosts Kaitlyn Bristowe and Tayshia Adams. Kaitlyn reminds Katie that this is her decision and it is not up to the guys.
Returning to the rose ceremony, Katie gives roses to Michael, Connor B., Quartney, Tre, Justin, Andrew M., Christian, Josh, Brendan, James, and Aaron.
Katie sends John, Kyle, Garrett, and Karl home. When it is time to say goodbye, Karl completely ignores Katie and walks out. Goodbye!
With Karl gone, all of the guys applaud Katie. Hunter says that she “cleaned house” and adds, “that’s my girl.”
Bachelorette Group Date
Katie invites Aaron, Quartney, James, Connor B., James, Thomas, Justin, Hunter, David, and Brendan on a group date. The guys jokingly point out that the date card does not end with, “Love, Katie.”
Katie says that today’s group date it about “past relationships” and former Bachelor Nick Viall joins her to help on the date. Nick explains that, “Today’s about being truthful, and sharing with Katie the things that maybe we’re not so proud of.”
Hunter shares that he is divorced with two children, and assures Katie that he learned from his experience.
Thomas reveals that while he now has genuine feelings for Katie, when he arrived he viewed this as a chance to grow his social media platform. He also went on a date right before arriving to The Bachelorette.
Connor B. tells his story of struggling with alcoholism and cheating on his former girlfriend. Reflecting on his past, he assures Katie that, “I used that to become a better man.”
After all of the guys share stories, Katie says, “I feel safe with them” and then it is her turn. She shares her story of sexual assault. While she is now comfortable and sex-positive, the situation impacted her for a long time and she has grown a great deal since.
Later that evening, the other guys are now suspicious of Thomas’ intentions. Meanwhile, Thomas interrupts Aaron to talk to Katie a second time and he share his feelings with her. Afterwards, Thomas tells the other guys that he told Katie he’s falling in love with her. The guys are upset he took extra time.
At the end of the night, Katie gives the group date rose to Connor B.
Katie Thurston’s Date With Mike
Katie knows that Michael A. is a father, but she does not know his whole story, and he wants to share it with her. For their one on one date, Mike and Katie drive around the New Mexico wilderness in a dune buggy and then relax on a picnic blanket.
Back in the house, the contestants are talking more about Thomas. They agree that he is not here for the right reasons.
During the dinner portion of the date, Mike tells Katie his whole story. Emotional, he explains how he met his wife and they got married, had a baby, and 7 months after the birth of their son she passed away from breast cancer.
He explains that after going through so much pain, he is ready to open his heart and fall in love a second time. His connection with Katie is undeniable, so it is no surprise when she gives him her rose.
The two then enjoy stargazing on the rooftop and Katie confesses, “I think this could be the start of me falling in love with Michael, and it’s so unexpected.”
The Bachelorette Drama Continues
Awaiting a group date card, the guys in the house are still talking about Thomas. Contestants are comparing stories and finding that Thomas has told different things to different people.
The group confronts Thomas, and Hunter asks him if he ever considered becoming the next Bachelor. Thomas says yes.
Next week’s teaser shows more drama surrounding Thomas and his intebachelontions, some of the guys get their arm pits waxed, and we finally see Blake Moynes arrive!
