BlackBerry PRIV Review
When people ask me to describe my job…well it’s a whole lot of everything. Like so many of you I am constantly busy. Between blogging, planning events, teaching, getting way to emotionally involved in Netflix series, working on my fitness and just living life it can be extremely overwhelming. I am always on the search for products and technology that make my crazy (wouldn’t have it any other way 😉 ) life a little less hectic.
I recently had the chance to try out the new BlackBerry PRIV and I am obsessed. For 2016, one of my goals is to find products that actually make my life easier and serve a purpose. I have tried so many different phones and I really like the PRIV. It has everything I need and is so easy to use. It’s a combination of the BlackBerry with all of the sweet add-ons from Android. You literally have access to over 1 million apps, yep read that again 1 million! There are a lot of different apps that you can download that will fit perfect with your lifestyle.
I used the PRIV for so many things. As the new year started, like many of you I focused on some new aspects of my life that needed a little revamping. I downloaded my fitness pal and am using it to track what I eat. I also added my bank information on my PRIV so I can keep track of my money. I have a goal in 2016 to hopefully spend a little less or at least be more cautious of my spending habits. I even downloaded the ebay app and am cleaning out by easily snapping photos of my things on my PRIV and listing them straight from my phone. The keyboard on the PRIV makes it so easy to type. This phone has become so important in all aspects of my life.
One my many favorite features is the BlackBerry calendar. I can add work, social and important events in one spot. It is so easy to use and right at the touch of my finger. I am someone who, like I said before is very busy. It is so easy for me to get overwhelmed and unorganized. Which stresses me out like you wouldn’t believe. Being able to have such an easy to use calendar makes all of the difference. I had a few calls last week that with all of the craze of the holidays I probably would have missed, but my PRIV notified me. When it was time for my call it presented me with a “Join Now” button that I clicked and it dialed me right in. It’s also right at the touch of my finger, which makes it much more convenient than the paper calendar I am usually lugging around.
As a blogger, I take a lot of pictures. I am someone who was not gifted with the photographer gene, but I have to tell you if you have the right camera any picture will turn out beautiful. It’s amazing how with just a click on my PRIV I become a world class photographer or at least I think I am. 😉
There is one thing I can’t stand about cell phones and that is the fact that my battery is always dead. Between snap chat, twitter, periscope, instagram, facebook, etc. my job as a social media influencer can use up a lot of battery. Well, good news. The PRIV battery actually last. I put it to the test and I’m happy to say it worked. I charged it one morning and was able to keep using it until the next afternoon! It tweeted, scoped, snapped, liked and even did a little blogging and was still at 11% battery! Needless to say I was amazed. It says it will last approximately 22 hours and it did!
I know many of us started out with a BlackBerry when cell phones were becoming a thing. I remember, it was one of the first phones I ever had…I was pretty addicted to snake, anyone else know what I’m talking about? Anyways, I have to say the PRIV is not like any BlackBerry you have seen before. I can’t get over how easy it is to use in every aspect of my life. From photos to social media to even just calling my mom to say hi. It is so easy to use and has all of the features I need in a phone.
One more thing I want to point out is that the PRIV offers a privacy factor like no other. BlackBerry is passionate about raising the bar for security and privacy. You are able to monitor and control application access to your microphone, camera, location and personal information. I think that is really important when it comes to a cell phone. These little things become so much a part of our life, but you always want to be able to keep your private life private and with BlackBerry you can.
If you’re interested in a phone that can help you organize your life from business to home and everything in between the PRIV is it.
Disclosure: I was provided with a PRIV to review. However, all opinions are and always will remain my own.
I’ve been using the BlackBerry Passport for a year now. Just love it. Really nice to see people respond well to BlackBerry’s first Android attempt. Great read. Posting on my BBM Channel.
Nice review! Can you comment on the usefulness of the Hub? For me, while not as integrated as its BB10 version, it still nicely puts all my emails, texts, Whatsapps, and FB notifications in one spot without having to close separate applications and open new ones.
Sorry, I should further mention that the Hub worked nicely after I disabled the double notifications from the applications themselves, and turned off Google’s email sync.
good post, I am an apple fan but love the looks of that BB, so when verizon gets it I am switching
Have you used blackberry 10 before? If you have, do you think blackberry 10 phone or blackberry priv is more productive? I think I much prefer the gestures in BlackBerry 10
Great review on a great device I’ve had mine since launching in Canada. Best device out there by far.
