Celebrate Earth Day with Disney’s Animal Kingdom and #DisneynaturePenguins
Earth Day is a big day for Disney. This year marks the 20th anniversary of Disney World’s youngest park, Animal Kingdom. While next Earth Day, Disneynature gives us another adorable adventure with Penguins!
On April 22, 1998, Disney celebrated Earth Day in a big way by opening Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World. I have so many fond memories of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. I visited the park once when I was younger and was mesmerized by the Tree of Life. I returned last year as an adult, and still found the Tree to be one of the most breathtaking things in Animal Kingdom. The carvings of animals are so intricate and beautiful. It’s even more amazing when you learn that there are 300 of them and they were all done by hand!
Isn’t it beautiful? To celebrate the anniversary of the opening, Disney offered special events, food, and merch to commemorate 20 years of animals at the Mouse. Even Joe Rohde made an appearance! He’s the Imagineering exec behind this park and he’s a bit of a big deal. If you’re like me and want in on the gear because you can’t be at WDW, Disney’s got your back. You can find 20th Anniversary Animal Kingdom merch on the Shop Disney Parks site and app.
With this year’s Earth Day wrapped up in Animal Kingdom, you might be wondering what Disney has planned for next year? Get ready to celebrate Earth Day 2019 with Disneynature’s Penguins! I was skeptical at first, but the trailer is adorable! Disneynature introduces us to Steve, a penguin just trying to find love in Antartica. The movie will take us on the journey of Steve the Adélie penguin as he meets his mate and starts a family.
