Sarah was joined by rising country music singer Renee Blair to talk about her new album, makeup tips, and why you have to hustle to succeed!
Success isn’t easy
With a dream to pursue country music, Renee left Missouri and moved to Nashville at age 15. She found that the journey to be a star is not as easy as she had imagined.
“I’ve lived in Nashville for over a decade now…It’s taken some time. Twelve years later, and we’re still just getting started. This last year has really picked up. I’ve been touring and making an album. It’s been awesome…Everyone moves here and has some level of talent, but the talent is not what I think really defines you getting on the radio or not is the team that you have and the hustle that you have. Truly the people I know that are succeeding the most are the ones that hardly sleep. It’s miserable, but that’s what you’ve got to do. I understand the phrase, now more than ever, ‘if it was easy, then everyone would do it’. It’s very hard.”

Renee has been fortunate enough to work with some of the best makeup artists in the industry where she picked up some amazing tips along the way.
“Obviously, I am not a professional makeup artist, but I have had my makeup done some of the best makeup artists that exist out there such as Tarryn Feldman who’s done Reese Witherspoon, Kelsea Ballerini. You name it. I have a few little tips and tricks that I’ve picked up from a few of the great ones. “

“I have a little mole…I like to think Marilyn Monroe is really my mother up in heaven, and my mom was her surrogate. I joke with my mom about that all the time because of this mole. I’m like what if Marilyn Monroe was my mom was my real mom and you’re just my birth mom?

“It’s the Cleopatra in me maybe. I was obsessed with her growing up too. I’ve always loved the muses and beauty icons for some reason. The Cleopatras and the Marilyn Monroes. Brigitte Bardot. I’ve always love beautiful women with accents who use their features and their beauty. It’s just fascinating to me. It’s a lot more work being a woman, but it’s also a lot more fun.”
