Carbs

Excessively eating carbohydrates has a severely damaging effect on your body. There are a few reasons for this, but the main one is often enough to shock people into reducing their intake. Carbs are essentially empty calories. Your body’s reaction to carbohydrates is to immediately turn them into sugars and send them into the bloodstream. This is useful for a short-term boost of energy, but not much else. After that sugar rush is gone, you are left with lower blood sugar levels than previously. In this way, carb-heavy snacks do little for you in the long run at all.

Gluten

Chances are, you have heard a great deal about gluten and its potential downfalls. But first things first: What is Gluten? Put simply, gluten is a kind of protein. It is most commonly found in grains such as those which make up your bread and cereal choices. So what is the big issue with gluten? Well, too much of it can lead to severe problems for those who already have certain underlying issues. One such issue is celiac disease. For people with this disease, gluten can cause the symptoms to worsen needlessly. For such people, controlling their gluten intake will have positive benefits.

Margarine

For some reason, people have started taking to the notion that margarine is better for you than butter. However, this is far from the truth. People often turn to margarine because they are trying to lose weight or conquer a similar issue. It’s true that margarine has less saturated fat than butter. It is also better for your cholesterol levels. However, cholesterol is not as harmful as people used to think it was. But margarine is quite harmful. It contains many trans fats and a whole heap of salt. On the whole, this food is extremely bad for your heart – much worse than butter.

Processed Meats

There is nothing wrong with eating meats as such, but processed meats are a whole other issue altogether. Meats like ham, bacon and hot dogs are so bad for you, and for numerous reasons. First of all, they contain huge amounts of nitrates  -which are extremely bad for you, and lead to considerable weight gain. What’s more, they have an average of 400% more sodium than un-processed meats. A clear sign that they should be avoided at all costs.
