Disney Branded Television Reveals Upcoming Films and Series at D23 Expo 2022

New projects and never before seen content were revealed to fans during Disney’s Epic Entertainment Showcase: The Musical: The Extravaganza! With the help of cast members and creative teams, Disney Branded Television announced movies and series coming soon to Disney+ at D23 Expo.

Here’s the scoop on upcoming movies and series coming to Disney+!

American Born Chinese

Based on the graphic novel with the same name, American Born Chinese is a series starring Michelle Yeoh as Guanyin. The story follows Jin Wang, a high school student struggling to balance his social and family life. Everything changes one day when Jin meets a new student and is instantly thrown into a battle with Chinese mythological gods.

Big Shot – Season 2

The next show announced by Disney Branded Television at D23 Expo was Big Shot season 2. Marvyn has a plan to recruit Ava, a beach volleyball player whose tantrum led her to leave the sport. Friction starts to become a real thing when rivals and boys step into the picture. Watch Big Shot season 2 exclusively on Disney+ on October 12th.

The Santa Clauses

Scott Calvin begins to notice that his Santa magic is fading away when his 65th birthday approaches. Moreover, he realizes that his family could benefit from living away from the North Pole, so Calvin decides to find a replacement for Santa. Tim Allen is back for Christmas magic in the original series coming November 16th.

National Treasure: Edge of History

Expanding on the National Treasure movie franchise, this series will be from the perspective of Jess, who wants to find answers about her family. She also embarks on an adventure to uncover Pan-American treasure. This Disney Branded Television series announced at D23 Expo will premiere on December 14.

Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur

Based on Marvel’s comic book, this series follows Lunella Lafayette and her T-rex, Devil Dinosaur. When the super-genius, Lunella brings the dinosaur to New York City, they begin to work together to protect the city’s Lower East Side from danger.

Prom Pact

Coming soon to Disney+, Prom Pact centers around Mandy Yang and her best friends at the height of prom season. However, Mandy realizes that there is more to life than prom and instead puts her energy into attending Harvard.

In desperation, she asks Graham Lansing to help her out through his family connections. But she soon realizes that there is more to Graham and Harvard.

The Muppets Mayhem

The comedy series following The Electric Mayhem Band premieres on Disney+ in 2023. This epic music journey is filled with humor and inspiration as the band of muppets records their first studio album.

The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder

The second season focuses on the story of the central character, Penny while including her family. The series will return with familiar cast members to continue the critically acclaimed story. Watch exclusively on Disney+ on February 2023.

Best in Snow

A holiday special hosted by Tituss Burgess, Best in Snow features teams from around the world who transport to a magical snow village and are thrown into a competition. With the help of Snowdome’s carvers, the teams will create beautiful pieces of art inspired by Marvel, Pixar, and more.

Pentatonix: Around the World for the Holidays

Starring the musical acapella group, Pentatonix, this magical holiday project by Disney Branded Television was announced at D23 Expo. The group is having trouble coming up with a holiday album just in time for Christmas. However, they soon receive help from Disney magic by traveling around the world, and learning about different traditions in countries like Japan and Iceland.

The Hip-Hop Nutcracker

Look forward to this Christmas original coming to Disney+ this holiday season! The Hip-Hop Nutcracker is a reimagining of the Nutcracker ballet set in New York City. Maria-Claria witnesses her parents bickering up a storm and wants to get them back together, so she embarks on an adventure with the Nutcracker and a magical toymaker.

Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.

Following the end of summer, Lahela reunites with her boyfriend but finds that he isn’t the same as before. In season 2 of Doogie Kamealoha M.D, she meets a new patient who may place her in a difficult situation. It comes down to Lahela to make a decision on whether she will choose love or her medical specialty.

Growing Up

A docu-series exploring the challenges of adolescence, Growing Up follows a narrative of specific people between the ages of 18-22 who tell their stories about their internal struggles during self-discovery. Stream Growing Up now on Disney+!

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series

Season 3 of the series takes place at Camp Shallow Lake as the Wildcats and other campers enjoy their summer to the fullest with romance and the great outdoors. Watch the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series on Disney+ starting September 14th.

Zombies 3

The third installment to the Zombies franchise follows Zed and Addison as space aliens suddenly make their appearance in Seabrook. After the town is deemed a safe haven from zombies and other threatening creatures, Zed and Addison are caught off guard when they discover that extraterrestrial beings are trying to provoke them.

Under Wraps 2

A Disney Channel movie announced by Disney Branded Television at D23 Expo, Under Wraps 2 will continue the first movie’s storyline with the three friends getting ready to attend a Halloween wedding. However, they find out that the mummies, Harold and Rose could be in danger.

Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures

This series will follow a group of Younglings that go on missions to help people while discovering the good and the evil of the world. These Younglings train to become diligent Jedi with the help of their masters. Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures premieres on Disney+ in 2023.
