I am so excited to share about a movie coming to Disney + on Christmas Day!! “SOUL” is going to be one for the whole family. I loved everything about this joyful filled film from Disney/Pixar. It will have you laughing, smiling and remembering to make the most of your life!

Quick Overview
“SOUL” is a Disney and Pixar animation, directed by Pete Docter and Kemp Powers. It will be coming exclusively to Disney+ on December 25, 2020, so there will be no theatrical release. It is starring Jamie Foxx , Tina Fey, Angela Bassett, Ahmir-Khalib “Questlove” Thompson, Phylicia Rashad, Daveed Diggs, Graham Norton, Alice Braga, Wes Studi, Richard Ayoade, Sam Lavagnino, Aiyanna Miorin, Azriel Dalman, Donnell Rawlings, June Squibb and Rachel House.

Summary (**Spoiler Alert**)
Joe Gardner (Foxx) is an unmotivated middle school band teacher who, through one of his former students, lands his dream gig. On the same day, Joe accidentally plummets down a manhole and wakes up in his soul form to eventually end up in a place called The Great Before, which is the place souls find their personalities and passions. All he wants is to get back to his body, but somehow he is roped into being a counselor for a discouraged new soul named, 22 (Fey) to help her find her purpose.

On the quest back to his body, a mishap occurs when his soul accidentally ends up in a cat and 22 in his body, giving Joe the chance to see his life from a 3rd person perspective. While in Joe’s body, 22 shows us there is joy and beauty in even the smallest things most take for granted, and that life can be much more fulfilling when we unleash the child within. As 22 finds who she is, Joe rediscovers his passions and purpose as well.

“It’s a ravishing ode, too, to gestures, touches, smiles, and pithy, pointless conversations; in Soul the tiny human interactions that we so often brush over come under the magnifying glass.”
Jack King, The Playlist
“It’s a vintage mix of the company’s intricate storytelling, complex emotional intelligence, technical prowess and cerebral whimsy on dexamethasone.”
Leslie Felprin, The Hollywood Reporter
Personal Takeaways
“SOUL” was a very enjoyable watch. It’s fun and lighthearted, yet touches on very real issues and difficulties people face in the real world and what it means to truly live. It comes out on Christmas Day and I think it will be such a great movie for families to watch together. With everything happening the worth, Soul is just the movie we need to bring us some laughs and feel-good moments. This is a definite must watch!
