DIY Pumpkin Face Mask, Smoothie + Lip Balm (Fox 4 TV Segment)

I had the best time on FOX4 KC this morning! You can catch me there the first Monday of every month. 🙂 Today, I talked all about everything pumpkin and how to DIY it.   I showed you how to make a lip balm, smoothie and face mask! All pumpkin flavored of course!  Check out the segment & recipes below.

Face Mask (Makes one facial mask)

  • 2 Tbsp organic canned pumpkin puree or 1 small pumpkin
  • 1/2 tsp organic honey
  • 1/2 tsp unsweetened almond milk

Directions

Combine pumpkin puree, honey, and milk in a small bowl and mix well. If using a fresh pumpkin (or leftovers from a carved jack-o-lantern), scrape the insides and remove the seeds. Beat the gooey insides to a creamy pulp and mix with honey and milk.

Apply the mask using your fingers or a medium-sized makeup brush; avoid getting the mixture too close to the eyes. You can also apply to the neck. Allow the mask to set for about 20 minutes. Gently wash off the mask with a warm, damp washcloth and follow with a moisturizer.

Pumpkin Protein Shake

Turn your protein shake into a delicious pumpkin treat! Healthy, satisfying, and super tasty!

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • ½ cup pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 1 teaspoon honey, agave nectar, or sweetener of choice
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder *I go mine from Nutritional Brands (NBPure.com)
  • 6 ice cubes

I mixed my smoothie using Ninja’s latest blender which uses FreshVac Technology to remove oxygen so your fruits and veggies won’t brown as quickly – it’ll lock vitamins in and make more vibrant colored smoothies.

Process until well combined. Taste and adjust sweetener. I like serving in mason jars. 🙂

Lip Balm

Ingredients needed:

  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin

Combine ingredients together in a small bowl and transfer to a covered jar or container. This makes more than you need for a single use so keep the extra in a cool, dry spot or give to friends (they’ll love you). Apply to lips with your finger and gently rub back and forth. Finish with an application of pumpkin pie lip balm.
