Double Chocolate, Chocolate Chip Muffin Recipe

I am a big chocolate lover. Chocolate is my go-to sweet treat, it’s my favorite ice cream flavor and cake flavor. It’s even better when I get to have chocolate as part of my breakfast! So it’s no surprise that I absolutely love these decadent double chocolate, chocolate chip muffins. I really enjoy eating these muffins in the morning and getting my chocolate intake for the day right when I wake up.
These chocolate chip muffins are any chocolate and muffin lover’s dream! They have a rich chocolate flavor with the crumbly texture characteristic of an amazing muffin. The chocolate flavor comes from a combination of cocoa powder, melted chocolate chips, and regular chocolate chips. However, the great thing about this recipe is that you can alter the strength of the chocolate taste to your liking. If you aren’t a big chocolate person, skip adding melted chocolate to the batter.
Muffins, especially these chocolate-flavored ones, aren’t restricted to simply being a breakfast food. If you’re craving something sweet after dinner, try one of these muffins to fulfill your inner chocolate lover!

Chocolate Chip Muffin Ingredients
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar (add more if desired)
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 eggs
- Dash of vanilla extract if desired
- 1/2 cup Chocolate chips

How To Make Chocolate Chip Muffins:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare cupcake/muffin tin with muffin liners.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt together. Set aside.
- In another bowl, whisk melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract together.
- OPTIONAL: Melt about 1/4 cup of chocolate chips in the microwave and add it to the wet ingredients. Do this step if you desire muffins with a deeper, richer chocolate flavor.
- Once the wet ingredients are mixed together, add it into the dry ingredients. Using a spatula or your hands, fold the wet ingredients into the dry. The result should be a ball of sticky dough.
- Fold in about 1/2 cup of chocolate chips (or as many as desired).
- Using an ice cream scoop, place the dough into the muffin pans. Bake about 17 minutes, checking on the muffins often. Enjoy!

Notes About The Recipe
This recipe is flexible in terms of what you add in it. Experiment with how much chocolate there is; add in other ingredients such as fruits or nuts. Truly make this muffin recipe your own!
These muffins are bursting with chocolate flavor, which is part of why I like them so much. However, if you’re not much of a chocolate person, then try skipping out on the melted chocolate step for a less intense taste. - In another bowl, whisk melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract together.
- OPTIONAL: For a richer chocolate taste, melt about 1/4 cup of chocolate chips in the microwave and stir melted chocolate into the wet ingredients. Melt more chocolate if desired.
- Once the wet ingredients are fully mixed, add it into the dry ingredients. Use a spatula to fold it into the dry ingredients until a sticky ball of dough forms.
- Fold about 1/2 cup chocolate chips into the dough. Add more if desired.
- Put the muffin dough into the muffin tins using an ice cream scoop. Press the dough into the muffin liners. Bake about 17 minutes and enjoy!
