A First Look At The Movie LA LA Land
LA LA Land is a movie you do not want to miss. This old fashioned musical stars two of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone and was written and directed by Academy Award nominee, Damien Chazelle. The heartwarming romance and reputation of the actors and director instantly puts great expectations on this film and as soon as it opened the Venice Film Festival back in August, it instantly became the frontrunner for Best Picture.
The plot line follows Mia (played by Emma Stone), who is an aspiring actress working on a motion picture studio lot as a waitress just to get by. She meets Gosling’s character, Sebastian, who is a dedicated jazz musician, during the exhilarating opening scene and the pair begin a magical romance. They both are struggling to follow their dreams and make ends meet in a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts–Los Angeles.
Peter Bradshaw from The Guardian says of the film:
It’s an unapologetically romantic homage to classic movie musicals, splashing its poster-paint energy and dream-chasing optimism on the screen. With no little audacity, La La Land seeks its own place somewhere on a continuum between Singin’ in the Rain and Woody Allen’s Everyone Says I Love You, with a hint of Alan Parker’s Fame for the opening sequence, in which a bunch of young kids with big dreams, symbolically stuck in a traffic jam on the freeway leading to Los Angeles, get out of their cars and stage a big dance number.
This original musical about everyday life explores the joy and pain of pursuing your dreams. This is a movie you do not want to miss. It came to theaters everywhere December 9th.
