“Goodbye Christopher Robin” Movie Review – A Whimsical Must-See Movie + GIVEAWAY
There’s no denying the fact that everyone loves the classic children’s novel Winnie the Pooh. The new film, Goodbye Christopher Robin is based on this lovable book series and it truly blew me away. As someone who grew up with these books, it was very special to see them on the big screen. Not only does the movie tell the story of how the books were written, but it also combines elements of some horrifying details of World War I. This film is a true masterpiece and a must-see for this year.
Playwright, A.A. Milne (Domhnall Gleeson) has a mildly successful career writing plays, but as World War I rages on, he finds himself drawn to writing about more lighthearted, whimsical topics. When the nanny that watches his son must leave for the week, Milne is able to spend time with the incredibly creative Christopher Robin, otherwise known as Billy Moon (Will Tilston). As Milne gets to know his son better, he grows incredibly fond of Christopher’s stuffed animals, including Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Tigger and many other well known characters from the novels. After the first Winnie the Pooh installment becomes wildly successful, Milne has no idea of the effect that this newfound fame will have on his 8-year-old son. As the fame slowly ruins Christopher’s childhood, viewers are able to witness a never-before-seen side to the classic book series.
Goodbye Christopher Robin will make you laugh, cry, and do almost everything in between. Will Tilston, who plays Christopher Robin is absolutely adorable and amazingly talented for being only ten years old, and he adds a spectacular touch to this already superb film. In addition to the incredible acting, the film features beautiful scenery of the English countryside. Much of Milne’s inspiration for the book series came from the beautiful wildlife from the forest near his house. From towering trees to flowing streams, Milne was inspired by everything around him.
