Baking soda and hydrogen peroxide, coconut oil pulling, apple cider vinegar, lemon or orange peels, activated charcoal are all easy solutions that can help you avoid the embarrassment of teeth staining from coffee or tea.

Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide

Baking soda and hydrogen peroxide are two of the most popular home remedies for stains.  First, soak a stain with baking soda or toothpaste, then scrub in hydrogen peroxide to remove any leftover residue before rinsing thoroughly. 

You may also want to consider letting your teeth air dry after brushing them at night by placing a towel under their pillow so they don’t have contact with saliva.

Baking soda and hydrogen peroxide are not only for baking! Combine them in a paste form to remove stains from your teeth. Simply brush the paste over your stained teeth or teeth covers. Let it sit for about two minutes, then rinse with water. This method is especially effective at removing coffee or tea stains. 

Coconut Oil Pulling

Coconut oil pulling is a process used for hundreds of years to improve oral health. It’s highly effective at removing bacteria and other harmful substances from the mouth, especially if you do it regularly.

It sounds gross, but coconut oil pulls out all sorts of gunk from your teeth – including stains! Studies have shown that an hour-long session with coconut oil can remove up to 80% more plaque than brushing or flossing alone. 

The best part? You might not even need toothpaste when you’re doing it because studies show that people who brush their teeth with just water tend to get better results in terms of reducing tartar buildup and lowering dental sensitivity over time. 

Coconut oil pulling is also beneficial for those who have braces because it can help to prevent the formation of plaque and food debris on brackets. Consider rubbing a tablespoon of coconut oil all over your teeth and gums before you put in any mouth guard or headgear, then leave it there while you wear your appliance until bedtime. This will reduce bacteria growth that might cause gum disease!

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is a natural teeth whitener. You need to dilute the ACV with water by at least half and then brush your teeth for three minutes each day. The acid in the mixture will help remove stains from your enamel while making it more resistant over time. It also helps balance pH levels which is important because everyone has different mouth bacteria that thrive in sugar or acidic environments.

You just want enough of this acid, so you get rid of those surface-level discolorations without damaging tooth structure or weakening underlying tissue; too much could erode things like fillings and root surfaces.

Lemon, Orange, or Banana Peels

This is not an exhaustive list, but a few simple things you can do to avoid teeth stains at home. Lemons are acidic and, when rubbed on the teeth, will dissolve plaque for about 20 minutes. Orange peels have similar effects as lemons. Bananas contain potassium which helps remove bacteria from your mouth that cause bad breath and tooth decay. Applying all three of these items together will give even more effect! Just rub them onto your teeth like you would any other cleaner or paste before brushing with toothpaste, then rinse after 20 minutes.
