Bridgerton opened our eyes to the world of regency fashion and left us eagerly awaiting the return of cap sleeved gowns in pastel hues.
Unfortunately, floor-length gowns have not yet made their return but we can indulge in our regency fashion dreams by taking inspiration from the Bridgerton/Featherington/Thompson women and giving their outfits a modern take.
Warning: this style guide may include “Bridgerton” Season 1 spoilers.
Dress | Heels | Flat Shoes | Ribbon Choker | Bag | Gloves
In Season 1, Daphne went from a hopeful debutante to the Duchess of Hastings. This square-neck midi-dress perfectly captures Daphne’s essence. Similar to Daphne’s regency-era dresses, it features an empire waist but stays modern with a split leading to the mid-thigh.
Pair with ruched satin heels to stay in touch with modern trends or go for a pair of flats for a more Bridgerton feel. Accessorizing is where you can really embrace Daphne’s look, this Blue Satin Ribbon Choker is an exact replica of Daphne’s.
It is bound to make you feel like you stepped back in time. If you want to go a little further, white sheer gloves will add an air of elegance.
As she is not a debutante, Eloise has a more ‘modest’ look. Her gowns feature high necks (aka a chemisette), empire waists and cap sleeves. This modernized Eloise look strays away from cap sleeves and empire waistlines but stays true to the high neck style.
Layer a cropped, fitted blazer for Eloise-style outerwear and wear three headbands to recreate her signature hairstyle. As for shoes, caged Mary-Jane ballet flats give the regency style shoe a modern twist.
The Featherington women flaunt brightly colored gowns throughout Season 1, and Penelope is no exception. Get the colorful Featherington look with this yellow square-neck dress with sleeves that resemble those of the regency-era. Add a matching bag and accessorize with a crystal twist necklace and silver earrings.
This jewelry won’t break your bank account but it will make you look like you are about to spend a night at the opera. Tone down the look with black slingback flats or go full monotone with matching yellow heels.
Whilst making her debut in society, Marina dons the Featherington colours but in other cases she goes for more subtle tones of pink, purple and white. Go for a modern-day Marina look in a floral patterned, square-neck mini dress.
During Season 1, Marina can be seen wearing different types of necklaces, one of those is a pearl choker. Use the necklace to pay an ode the regency era and pair it with matching pearl earrings. Add a pair of pink ballet flats and a pink crossbody pouch to complete the look.
Dressing like the women of Bridgerton is sure to keep our regency fashion dreams alive whilst we await the second season!
