How to Make an Easy Vegetarian Breakfast Sandwich

This vegetarian breakfast sandwich is quick to make with just a couple of ingredients and it’s so delicious!

Vegetarian/vegan diets have seen skyrocketing popularity in the last few years. Speaking from experience, it might be something you want to try but are a little hesitant about what it entails with what you can and can’t eat. It also is a bit daunting if you’re worried about your protein intake. It’s a lot easier than you’d think, and there are so many great meat alternatives out there. This recipe is one of my favorite breakfast recipes and it’s a simple way to get your protein and healthy fats first thing in the morning!

This recipe is simple, easy, and quick! Not to mention there’s no more waiting in the McDonald’s Drive-Thru for your breakfast sandwich. In addition this breakfast sandwich tastes 10x better and can be made up in your own home and you’ll be wanting to make this every morning!

Ingredients

VEGETARIAN BREAKFAST SANDWICH INGREDIENTS:

These are all the ingredients you’ll need and can be commonly found in most refrigerators (with the exception of the vegan bacon). This sandwich can be made on any kind of bread you like but I prefer a bagel!

HOW TO MAKE A VEGETARIAN BREAKFAST SANDWICH:

1. Fry the eggs. For me, it depends on how hungry I am if I make one or two, but one will work just fine! You can also make any type of egg for this sandwich, I just prefer fried.

2. Cook your “bacon”. This “bacon” is Morning Star’s Veggie Bacon. It’s plant-powered protein meaning there are no meat or animal products involved in this bacon or in the production of it. I know you might be a bit skeptical of the way it tastes, trust me, I was too. BUT it’s delicious! It also actually kind of tastes like bacon. Morning Star also makes plant-based sausage, chicken, and burgers! Trust me when I tell you their products are delicious and do closely resemble the taste of meat. If you are considering going vegetarian/vegan or just looking for a meat alternative, I would highly recommend trying this brand!

3. Toast bread. While the bacon is cooking, go ahead and toast whatever bread you will be using for your sandwich. It’s so much better toasted, that way you get a little bit of warmth and crunch when you first bite into the sandwich.

4. Spread Avocado and Butter. This is totally optional, but I spread some avocado on one half of my bagel and a little bit of butter on the other. I also season the avocado with salt and pepper.

4. Assemble the sandwich. Add the bacon and a slice of cheese on your toasted bread with the avocado and butter. I think cheese gives it a bit more flavor, and I personally like to use muenster cheese because it’s mild but still flavorful.

That’s it! You’ve just made yourself a delicious vegetarian breakfast sandwich. It’s way easier than you’d think to make something vegetarian. Enjoy!
