In a Tweet on April 6, 2021 popular blogger Reality Steve shocked fans by sharing, “It’s been a while but here’s some news: Matt and Rachael? Yeah, they’re not over. They’re currently in New York together. FYI.”

So many Bachelor fans are in disbelief over this reunion. Matt and Rachael’s relationship on The Bachelor was very strong and they shared an undeniable connection. However, on the After the Final Rose special the couple shared that they were no longer together.

Racially insensitive photos of Rachael resurfaced online while the season was airing, and it was because of this controversy that Matt ended their relationship.

Because this breakup is very serious to so many fans, Matt and Rachael’s reunion in NYC is all that much more shocking! Does this reunion mean that they are dating again?

Are Matt and Rachael Dating Again?

A source close to Matt tells E! News that Matt and Rachael are not dating. The source also adds that Rachel has been trying to reach out to Matt for a while now and that he agreed to meet with her.

A second source explains that Rachel is in New York City visiting friends. They add, “Rachael and Matt are completely just friends. He has no intentions of dating her in the future.” They also share that Matt is not looking for a relationship and is instead focusing his efforts on work.

Since so much drama and controversy surrounded their relationship, it is understandable that Matt and Rachel’s relationship suffered.

Matt voiced his thoughts on their relationship on Good Morning America saying, “I felt the weight of everything that I was carrying throughout the season and with what we were dealing with as a country and having to explain that, why I think it’s problematic to me and our relationship, which was extremely difficult.”

After his breakup with Rachael, some fans suspected that Matt began dating former Bachelor contestant Heather Martin. However, Heather shares the answer to this question on an episode of The Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast.

Heather says, “I think he has a lot going on in his life. You know, he’s going through a ton. I can’t even imagine…so many different aspects of the show, just everything. So, I think he has a lot going on right now, so, no, I’m not dating Matt.”

Some fans are still hopeful that Matt and Rachael will be able to work things out, but we will all have to wait and see.
