Exclusive Interview: Christen Whitney From The Bachelor
Christen Whitney was on season 21 of the Bachelor. On the show she tried to win Nick Viall’s love over 29 other women and then became a part of season 4 of Bachelor in Paradise. In our exclusive interview with her we got the scoop on what it was like on the shows, and what she is up to now.
Her image on the show
“If I could be anything I want to be relatable.”
Reality TV can be deceiving. Only some contestants can be given the ‘glory’ moments on the show whereas others are put in a bad light. Christen talks about in her interview how she was happy that so many people thought she was relatable after being on Bachelor in Paradise. She also encourages viewers to not add to the negative comments, as you never really know what is going on behind the camera.
Her time on the shows
“If I could go back and do it again I wouldn’t have had asked Matt on that date.”
Although Christen did not spend too much time on either show she did leave her mark. Going into the Bachelor, Christen had no idea that Nick was going to be who she was pursuing. Producers told The women two days before they flew out to L.A. She earned the nickname Scallop fingers on Bachelor in Paradise. Scallop fingers was born after Christen put scallops on her fingers tips and ate them. She also had them in her intro for the show. “I had no idea for the most part of paradise. In the end I got on board with it.” Christen could not figure out why they gave her so many scallops to eat. Wells, the bartender and former Bachelorette contestant, ultimately told her about it. After that she just decided to go with it.
Advice for future contestants
“If you want to give it a shot, go for it.”
Christen was honest and open with her advice for future contestants. “Be your confident self. Be a personality, they don’t like boring. But I also will tell you to proceed with caution because there are only a handful of people who get like that glory time on the show. It’s not all like red roses a lot of people get really negative edits and it impacts them very negatively. A lot of it is out of your control. But if you’re brave, tough, and resilient, it is worth it.”
With every reality show there is a risk of being put in a bad light, it’s up to you on if you want to take that risk or not.
