The rumors are true! Disney’s Dumbo is getting a live-action remake from Tim Burton. Dumbo is a Disney classic, and Tim Burton is no stranger to the Disney company. Dark favorites like James and the Giant Peach, Frankenweenie, and Nightmare Before Christmas are just some of Burton’s beloved films for the company. So what can we expect from Tim Burton’s direction for Disney’s Dumbo?
The circus, of course! Burton’s Dumbo plans to take audiences back to a circus from the early 1900s. Danny DeVito plays Max Medici, the owner of a circus that’s had more successful days. Times are hard and Baby Dumbo’s ears don’t exactly help bring in money. Max doesn’t know what to do but he does know that he needs someone to take care of Dumbo. Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) arrives and brings along his kids to help Max with the baby elephant. They all come to love Dumbo and notice that his ears are pretty special.
Just when things look up for the circus, here comes trouble. Michael Keaton’s V.A. Vandevere arrives to add Dumbo to his show: Dreamland. Everything is gorgeous, bigger, and better than Medici’s circus–at least on the surface. Dreamland has something strange and secretive going on that Holt is bound to discover.
